My husband has been diagnosed with duodenal cancer, had a gastric bypass as they couldn't do the Whipples, and is 6 rounds into chemo.
He is getting a lot of side effects, and is in hospital with them at the moment. Diarrhoea is the worst one, and is causing concern. But he has problems with his mouth being dry and 'stiff' so he cant speak properly... anyone had that before? Now his feet are swelling up which they have said is a side effect too. They are trying Creon now, so it was good to read what others have said about that.
It's really tough for him and of course, he can't have visitors. It is good to read that the tough times can improve.
What treatment seemed to work for those of you who had the bad diarrhoea?
Hi and welcome to the online community although I'm very sorry that you've had to find us.
I don't have any experience with side effects of treatment for duodenal cancer but I noticed that your post hadn't had any response yet.
While you're waiting for replies, if you type 'diarrhoea' into the search bar in this group you'll find a few posts which mention it. You could have a look through them and see if anyone is recommending treatment that was successful for them.
If you can't find anything you could post your question in the Ask a Nurse section of the community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to respond within 2 working days.
