Hello there, soon to be put on CDK4/6 and also Zometa.  Can any one tell me how they  have  been on this drug . I am taking Letrozole but subject to PETscan results this is the plan for me. Getting anxious about the drug. Love to hear from anyone. Thanks.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I haven't had these drugs, so can't help with any experience, but I did notice that your post had gone unanswered. This could be because no one is on this combination or that the right person hasn't yet seen your post. By replying to you it will 'bump' you back to the top of the page where your post will be more easily spotted.

I typed 'CDK4/6' into the search bar in this group but didn't find any previous posts mentioning it but if you put 'zometa' in you'll find lots. You could have a look through these posts and read about others experiences with zometa.

I'm also going to tag this group's Community Champions  and into my reply to you as they may have had experience with these drugs or know of other members of this group who have.

    Wishing you all the best

Hi Duckadilly, I have been taking Letrozole tablets daily, and every twelve weeks an infusion of Zoledronic acid (Zometa) for over a year. Whether this is because of the breast cancer or the drugs, I do get very tired, and  I sometimes have brain fog!( which is very annoying as I used to be a secretary and now have problems in filling in my own forms!!) I haven't been sick or anything violent. So far the secondaries have almost disappeared and the main tumour is reduced. I don't expect miracles, but at 71 I make the best of things.and let others help me instead of the other way around. I was 42 when I had the first breast cancer removed and I am still here!

Have not come across CDK 4/6

I haven't been on the group site lately, but picked yours up today. Best of luck.

  • Hello Duckadilly

I was just rolling through the discussions here, because I'm looking for someone on the same drugs as me.  I am not on Zometa so I can't comment on that drug, but I guess you have already started on the CDK4/6 inhibitor because your post was some time ago.  I have been on Ribociclib and Letrozole plus 4 weekly injections of Denosumab for 14 cycles, currently in my 15th cycle.  I've just had a CT scan and anxiously awaiting the results.  On the whole I feel pretty good.  I still work full time (on lunch break at the moment).  I do have aches and pains of course, which I don't know if they are side-effects or just growing old.  I'm 49 but I have BRCA 2 gene mutation and had a salpingoophorectory back in 2013 (I was 43 then) when I have BC first time around, I personally think that my body is prematurely aging because of the early menopause brought on by chemo and then the removal of the ovaries.  Other issues I have which I do put down to side-effects are double vision, for which I did have an MRI to check if any brain mets had grown, thankfully not.  Low blood counts (goes with the territory!). Very itchy and dry skin. Sensitive teeth (Denosumab for bone mets). Bruising and like most on this site fatigue.  Other than all that I'm perfectly well Stuck out tongue winking eye.

Anyways I need to sign off now, but I would love to hear how you are doing.

    Best Wishes

    Hello Penny ,

I am glad someone has answered me, it feels quite lonely at times with my thoughts .loved the last sentence about faking it till making it.

I am only on letrozole at the moment as my last PET scan said slightly diminished on one side and stable on other. So my oncologist Judy King says she wants to see how the next PET scan in February is.

I have been taking CBD oil, so it could be that as well as the Letrozole.

I have just cut my holiday short as Ihave now a broken foot.it has 3 breaks and I might have to have an op. On it. I shall be so glad when this year is over and done with.

Where abouts in the country are you.?

I'll sign off for now. Merry xmas and a happy new year

    Best Wishes
