Im 35, was diagnosed with Tubular pattern with focal LCIS in December 2023. Waiting for a mastectomy next week. I'm worried that tumour type and grading mught change to more aggressive after surgery, and therefore not allowing myself to relax or take reassurances at face value. Has the grade/type changed for anyone here?

Looking for how frequent this is and I'm not alone

  • Hi One Step - sorry to hear your diagnosis - try not to worry and keep busy whether it’s working or seeing friends and family - also don’t google either !

Where our diagnosis is concerned it’s not really until we’ve had surgery do we see the full picture.  My care plan changed from not having chemo to having to endure 6 rounds.  Whatever happens anything is doable and we just carry on and get through our rollercoaster of a journey.

This forum is great and everyone one on here are lovely so helpful and you will soon find out you are not alone.

I hope your surgery goes well next week x

    1. Hi. I was also really worried that my tumour type and grade might change for the worse after my lumpectomy. Biopsy told me it was grade 2 IDC.  I had my lumpectomy and was then told it was only a grade 1 IDC. I was so happy when I was told that. So yes, it can change, but not necessarily always for the worst x
  • Thank you for sharing your experience. You seem to be carrying this so well xx hoping for the best!

  • That's ever so helpful! Thank you xx glad yours was downgraded, must have been such a relief!

  • Hi one step

After surgery I was told that they had found a second tumor ( well I wasn't told but it was in the letter sent to my GP) but my treatment has stayed the same as before

Good luck with the surgery xx

  • Hi one step, I found out last week that what I thought had been a grade 2 was actually a grade 3.  It was unexpected and a bit upsetting to hear but I’ve just adjusted my mind to it now and feel ok,
