I hope all goes well for you and you recover well

I just want it over and done with and for the healing process to begin … may I ask how much could you do and not do after the op ? and yes I’m not looking forward to sleeping on my back as always sleep on my left ! Which is the Breast that’s being removed ! I will get some arnica and bio oil .. how soon do you apply either please ? I hope you are recovering well xx

  • How long do you have to wait for reconstruction, I hope all goes well for you and you recover well

  • Hi Suzanne - I had a LB mastectomy, am left handed and sleep on my left side - tripple whammy!!  foundtht if I put pillows on my left side that stopped me rolling over duringthe night.  I also slept on my own for the first week.  I used arnica as soon as I took off the corset they put you in for 48 hours, but earlier on any bruising that the corset didn't cover..  Bio oil as soon as the gauze came off, which was just under a week, and also ate lots of fresh pineapple.  Apparently it has an enzyme that is good for bruising, and certainly the consultant was surprised how quickly the bruising had gone.  I stayed in bed fort he first 24 hours, and then just got up and walked around the house, and was on the settee .  Was surprised how tired I felt, but each day was better.  I have done very little since coming home, taking things very easy and did prepare lots of food for the freezer which have been a godsend, but then there is nothing wrong with soup and bread either.  Just east what you fancy.  Don't do anything that requires you using your left hand or arm, and lastly, make sure you do your exercises, they really are important for a good recovery.  You will be ok, and do as you are told!!  love and support xx
