We've created a new thread for radiotherapy discussions.

Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.

  • It must be very worrying, not knowing when your rt will start given the info you've been given.

I'm no expert when it comes to rt, but I imagine your surgeon and oncologist will request a rt regimen to fit you personally.

Did the oncologist say how many days rt you would have as I thought this was needed for the planning session.

I don't think.your hormone status should impact whether you can start rt.

I think you have sufficient reason to go back and raise your concerns and push for the earliest date available, given your circumstances..

I was given my dates and times at the rt clinic. Have a word with the appointment clerk, they may be able to provide more info on waiting times,

    Good luck x

  • Hi, yes 15 days RT they confirmed. You’re right my hormone status doesn’t stop me starting RT, I’m just worried that I’m not having either RT or hormone therapy yet and I’m 9 weeks post op already with positive margins. I’ll ask again at my planning session on Friday, but Oncologist told me yesterday that the 4 weeks waiting time had only been confirmed that day at their meeting. xHeart️

  • I was scheduled for rads. Its usually 6 to 8 weeks post surgery but got transferred to another hospital so it was about 12 weeks all tolled. They are aware of wait times but it can differ on hospitals and treatment places. Good luck x

  • Thank you Tired Minion xHeart️

  • Hi

i can’t give you an answer as I’m not a medic but as you obviously have concerns about time scales I would see if you can speak to your oncologist.

RT normally starts around two weeks after planning.

Hope all goes well on Friday

  • Thank you . I’ve had to phone a BCN this morning as having checked my hospital blood test results online it looks like the Estradiol test got missed again on Monday. She said she’ll check it all out with the Oncologist and ring me back. Fingers crossedFingers crossedXxHeart️

  • Hi, can’t remember if it was you  or  that had a covid test before starting radiotherapy (sorry, I’m definitely losing the plot). Anyway, I just checked my hospital apts online and I’ve been put in for a radiotherapy nurse swab apt on Saturday 12/03 and so I am guessing that’s for a covid test and that they are planning to start my 3 weeks Rads on Monday 14/03.

Does anyone know how long the start would be delayed IF you did test positive on that pre start Swab?

    Thanks Mickey xxHeart️

  • I've been for my planning scan this morning. The staff were so kind and explained everything so well. I felt totally safe and at ease. Had my 3 tattoos done, so all set.
    Five sessions to start 2/3/22.

  • Hi. Just had my pre-rt covid test this morning. I was told that if I tested positive my treatment would still go ahead  as planned but I would sit in a separate waiting room area.

I think reactions to covid are starting to relax a little which is good, especially as treatments are already delayed  due to covid x.

  • That’s great news - I’m so looking forward to the tattoos JoyJoyJoyJoyxxHeart️
