We've created a new thread for radiotherapy discussions.

Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.

  • Thank you for your reply, lower down meaning nearer to the chest than the arm?

Also she said they’d do radiotherapy up to the bendy bit of the armpit. I added the diagram to show what I mean Tired face

it’s so stressful. Do they normally do it up to the Bend?

  • One to go... Tomorrow...

Radiologist gave me dissolvable paracetamol to take before meals to help with swallow... Helps. Also a gel for the itchy rash... Very soothing although it then dries hard and peals off like sunburn. LOL. Still keeps me entertained. Will be glad to finish so I don't have to get up at silly o'clock to get there every morning. Then can start focusing on the road to full recovery.

  • Hi , I'm sure x-raygirl will answer. But try not to be too stressed. Easy for me to say at end of treatment but I know how you feel. I'm always very scared before each new treatment and inevitably the anticipation is far far wise than the reality. Out of chemo, surgery and radiotherapy, the radiotherapy is by far the easiest. The staff are soooooo lovely too. My nodes were included, I think, up near the collar bone and in the middle of the chest... The mammary chain? But not actually in the armpit... That's how I've understood it. Everyone is different and I think the oncologists are very precise in what they want covered depending on your needs. I'm wondering if you have specific worries or just the Radiotherapy overall. If I can answer any questions I will try. Sending you a virtual hug...( ).

  • Thank you so much your so sweet. It’s mainly the topic I mentioned. I am worried about redness and burns but I’ve been told e45 twice a day would help?

  • They will treat the nodes up to the arm pit in the chest wall field.

I don’t know if any other nodes are going to be treated with additional fields as I don’t have your path reports or scans so it is a conversation you need to have with your mums oncologist or ask the radiographers to show you the area being treated when the treatment starts.

I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful but please don’t stress as the RT teams will have everything in hand

  • Glad you got something for your throat and itching.

You will be so glad to finish…, another milestone achieved x

  • Waiting for my second RT treatment now . Taking ibuprofen half an hour before to help with my swelling under my left armpit . That was on the advice of my oncologist who called me in the morning yesterday to check on me . Where would I be without her ? No idea . She’s been fantastic .
Using double base gel and topping up with Aveeno .

Having both sides done so not sure about my neck ?
Hang in there   and way to go .

    We’ ve got this

    Wish me luck !

    x

  • I'm using Medihoney cream... Which the radiologists gave me... Not keen on smell but seems to do the trick. I top it up once or twice a day with Aveeno. Really like the Aveeno. I've got E45 too but the Aveeno workes for me so sticking to that. I have a sore itchy patch the last few days, radiologist gave me Coloplast gel for that. Good luck all.

  • Hi Daisy03 I am slapping the E45 on about 4times a day, and, only at the beginning of my treatment, just slap it on as often as you like, but not to close to treatment time I have heard.x
