Hello everyone
Do any of you have any experience with the hormone treatment Ribociclib?
It's a cancer drug and I wonder does it have the same side effects as chemo has, does it cause hair loss? Will my hair ever grow back?
I realise it's a long term treatment (3 years) and when I remember the side effects and how chemo made me feel, am I going to experience the same feelings? Am I going to feel normal again?
If any of you are taking this drug, I would live to hear your experience with it.
Thank you
Hi
I’ve just started on it last week and so far no side effects at all. My oncologist and the chemo nurse said it is unlikely to cause hair loss though may thin it a little but letrozole can do that too. Hope you get on well with it .
I started Ribociclib on 9 September and so far absolutely no side effects. It's yet to kick in but side effects are very individual. Im on Zoladex, Letrozole and Ribociclib and the first two inhibit estrogen which has caused mild hair loss. Not noticeable, just shedding more hair than usual.
Just take it a step at a time and deal with side effects if they occur.
I'm now experiencing some Ribociclib side effects: fatigue in the morning, pain in back and bones, dry skin and eyes.
I've bought a reheatable eye mask, use eye drops and make appointments in the afternoon where possible. I've also got a heatable throw which helps with the aches.
Thanks for that. Had a bisphosphonates infusion yesterday and got that classic flu type achey/stretchy/headache thing going on. I’ll be Interested to hear how you feel in the break and then when you start it up again. Hope it’s not detrimentally affecting you and that it improves x
I had my 2 week blood test results and hemoglobin, white blood cells and other markers are still in range but have markedly dropped since August. This probably explains my fatigue and body pain. You can check your bloods via the NHS app.
Sorry you're feeling grotty. You might find that Magnesium helps. Flakes in the bath, supplements and body cream can all help. Putting Magnesium flakes in the bath does help reduce body pain and supplements help with anxiety and sleep.
