Hi everyone, how are you all?

great news for those hitting the final chemo milestone.
I had my final Docetaxel a week ago, and despite a few ropey days with side effects of spasms and pains again, plus sore and peeling feet, I think I may be turning a corner today. My mouth is very sore and I can’t taste much but that’s become the norm now! Fingers crossed it returns in the coming weeks!

I too have found my eyesight has deteriorated somewhat: I have bought some of those off the shelf reading glasses and think I need to book an eye test. I’m guessing I’ll have taken the most of the hit now so it shouldn’t change much more?

It’s a strange feeling at the moment, knowing I don’t have to go another round should feel good but I’m also apprehensive about the next steps.

I have my radiotherapy planning scan next Wednesday, but have a few weeks then before treatment starts up again.

I am hoping the sun will shine a bit today so I can get outside as it’s been miserable and great the last few days. Maybe that will help brighten my spirits!

Stay safe everyone and good luck with managing side effects and upcoming appointments xx

  • Hi Ruby,

Hope your last chemo SEs are managable. Well done for getting through it all.

I’m having pertuzumab and trastuzumab IV (not the Phesgo combined injection) so still have to go to the chemo unit for a few hours.
I’ve not had any problems when this is being administered. I did have diarrhoea the following day. Took Imodium right away which stopped it. Apart from that, no other SEs. It really is so much easier and, almost, SE free.

    Bluebell xx

  • Hi Anne,

It’s great to hear you’re doing okay and finished RT. Hopefully you’ll be lucky with SE, I developed a slightly itchy, ‘spotty’ boob about two weeks after I finished which lasted about 10 days but is almost gone now.
Leg aches definitely better but I know what you mean, still there.
Fingernails growing out bruised areas now but still sore to open cans etc. Rest of toenails seem ok apart from the one I lost when I bruised it during chemo. New nail just starting to show though and I have some hairs back on my legs which need removing Joy
Scalp hair gradually returning but is wavy/fuzzy instead of my usual straight hair. If it was coloured I could go out without my wig but I was told not to for at least 3months after chemo and then only after a patch test to see if my scalp can take it.
Worst ongoing SE is slight neuropathy and joint pains in my hands which haven’t settled yet so I’m a wee bit worried about that as I’m 8 weeks post chemo though nurse said it could take 3-6months to go so trying to stay positive it will go in its own time.

I have my last contact beginning of September then ‘let go’ till December too, feels kinda funny doesn’t it but also good too…keep in touch to let us know how you’re doing

  • Hi

thx denise last one done rang the bell which felt very emotional as the people I been with this last 3weeks all clapped and cheered don’t think it’s sunk in yet that I don’t have to go back on Monday although don’t think my boob could take anymore as it feels slightly swollen and red like sunburn. Chemo SE are easing still have some aches and tingling in hands .

    take care everyone

    Anne Xx

  • I'm the same! I think it's like being on a plane or bus. I try to fight sleep off, then can't. Huge congratulations on reaching half way - that's a major one!! I hope you celebrated. There should be something to mark six, like a little bell or something. I'm feeling the effects more each week - I'm more tired during treatments, completely knocked out when I get home, and achey / uncomfortable the following day. But nothing dramatic either - some tummy twinges. Now, two days later I'm fine though foggy-brained. Is your hair growing back? It's really nice to see something recovering!

  • Hi Ruby.  Sorry you are feeling rough and really am full of admiration for you and your fortitude for completing this.  Their is light at the end and a new you!  Look at this after seven weeks x

  • Loving the hair. Great stuff

Sorry to hear about you constipation try prunes or prune juice. I found that worked for me after my first Taxol and carboplatin

Gwennie! Your hair looks great! Mine started growing back on the Docetaxel cycles and I almost have a full but very thin covering all over. The top and front are a bit slower though.

Thabks all for good wishes - well done Anne on ringing that bell!
