Hi, I am due to start Letrizole after finishing my radio. I am very anxious about this as I have been unable to find any positive posts about this drug.
any advise would be very much appreciated.
thanks in advance
Hi Dhill , I’m on Anastrozole which is similar to letrozole. I do have some side effects but would always suggest to try it and see how you get on. The chances are that the people (like me), posting here to discuss our side effects, are in the minority. Most folk taking these drugs are probably getting on fine with them so less likely to post about them. And I’d just add, I’ve been taking Anastrozole for nearly 7 years and am grateful for the reduction in risk of recurrence that it offers. Love and hugs, HFxx
Hi
I’ve been on letrozole for four months now and tolerating it well. I have stiff legs at times but am sleeping and eating well.
I take it every morning after breakfast and after a bit of joint pain when I first started those side effects soon disappeared. I know it’s different for everyone but hopefully your experience will be similar to mine.
Thank you so much for your reply. It is such a scary road and nearing what I hope is going to be the end, the tablets frightened me as much as the cancer with the side affects.
thank you again x
Thank you Riamdd5081,
I am just so exhausted with the whole journey and looking forward to getting my life back. When I looked into the tablets I was horrified at the side affects. It’s been a breath of fresh air reading your post. Some positivity and hope.
thank you so much for your reply x
I’m on letrozole too. Have been on it for 2 weeks now I think and I feel very achey. I have just started running every day so could be that who knows. I take it in the morning after breakfast.
I try not to read up on the side effects of these things as I know I am taking it for protection of it developing again.
Hi Sparkle497uk,
I am my own worst enemy!! I read everything then worry terribly. Hopefully, I will get through these side affects as I am very grateful to be getting to the end of my treatment.
thank you so much for your reply x
I’m new here. I’ve also been on Letrozole for 2 weeks. I get a tiredness slump at about 3pm that lasts for around an hour, also muscle aches and joint pain.
I’m a runner so it makes me feel better to decide the aches are due to running. Hope to keep up the running until my lumpectomy on 24th Sept.
Hello! I started on letrozole 5 weeks ago after DMX and auxiliary node clearance. Luckily my oncotype score was low (6) so I didn’t need chemo but am on AI for 5 years. I also read about all the side effects but so far the only issue is the hot flashes that I find ok in the day but wake me up at night and then I struggle to go back to sleep. Hoping they reduce or my body gets used to the oestrogen depletion.
My advice is don’t ’what If’…as you may have no side effects and even if you do stressing about it won’t change anything! I know this is easier said than done. What I do know is that if you have been through any treatment you are strong and resilient and sure you will cope with next steps far better than perhaps you think.
Hi Dhill, I've been on Letrozole for 9 months and feel great.
Fortunately the first brand of Letrozole that I was given agreed with me so I am trying to make sure that I get the same brand each time. It takes a bit of running around as it's not always available, but I have a good few weeks 'buffer'/ stock so I don't have to panic.
Hope that helps
sx
