  • Hi  congratulations on finishing chemo. Woohoo, well done! TadaYour tastebuds will recover, didn’t take too long for me and boy was it nice to enjoy food again.
I too have noticed changes in my eyesight but was told to hold off for 6 months before booking an eye test as often it’s a temporary thing, perhaps check with your team before you pay for new prescription?
Now you can enjoy the break before RT starts which is way easier than chemo!

  • Quiet day in the unit yesterday so #6 completed on time. I celebrated with coffee and cake! My hair is not so much coming back as clinging on for dear life. It was long and very curly. I lost the length a week or two ago. It was forming matted lengths as it shed so I cut it. it went  from shoulder to jaw length. It’s still thinning but it still looks like a full head of hair probably because the curls hide a lot. I I’m going to call the wig lady at the hospital next week for an opinion on what to do with it. My tummy discomfort started to turn into acid reflux and I’ve been prescribed omeprazole. I identify with the brain fog. There are any number of things that I have not been able to find since chemo started! Hope it stays undramatic for you xx

  • Hi everyone I’m starting chemo on Friday. Just a quick question, do you take any snacks with you to sessions and any tips on eating. I have an existing condition which means altho scary that chemo is being attempted, lots of monitoring. Sigh, some benefits to being a medical rarity with added breast cancer. Just been reading the chats here and sending admiration and hugs to all of you. The level of support looks quite variable from the different hospitals? I’m at Barts and so far v impressed. Xx

  • Hi

Hope all goes well for your first chemo on Friday. Do you know which chemo regime you are having? Sorry you're having to deal with chemo as well as other medical issues.  Regarding snacks,  in my unit if I'm there around 12 or 12.30 I have a lunch provided which is usually sandwich, packet of crisps, a yogurt or jelly and a fruit juice. But all hospital's may differ. I've found taking skittles to chew on helps me but I think that's because they are sweet. As well as many other ladies on here  my taste and smell has changed. I used to love the smell of coffee but it now has a weird burnt smell!! Some people say boiled sweets to suck on too. I also take a water bottle and try and drink the whole lot depending how long you're on there for. I'm usually on for around 2 1/2 hours - 3 hrs depending on how busy the unit csn be...and it can get pretty busy!!!!

    Good luck in your journey

    Take care xxx
