Hi all,

We've created a new thread for radiotherapy discussions, as the existing threads were getting a little long.

  • If you're looking for earlier discussions, you can find the Feb/Mar thread here and the Apr/May thread here.
  • You can find useful radiotherapy tips shared by members in an older thread here.

Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.

  • I am not sure that the radiotherapy staff are always the same ones as at the planning appt. I had one female and one male - the young male being much better personality wise than the female. He suggested a referral to physiotherapy as he could tell I was struggling with one arm a bit, so I am being referred, so that's good. I hoped time would solve the problem, but although I do the exercises, still not back to the mobility I was at before the surgery.

Thank you I'm sure in time with exercise and physio you will get your mobility back x

  • I like coffee

At my CT scan pre-appointment I was asked if I had any objection to a mixed team. I had 5 sessions, two sessions had both a female and male team plus a male student, remaining sessions were all female. I believe it is part of the protocol to ask patients their preference so if you prefer an all female team your hospital should do their best to accommodate this.

  • Hey, we all have wobbly days. Mine was Monday overthinking the planning appointment. Today i feel far more positive. Having actual dates to focus on helps me. I'll be getting the radiotherapy at a different hospital than the planning scan but I have attended 4 different hospitals so far throughout this experience and I find all the staff both Male and female really lovely,  kind and understanding. I just tell myself that they have all seen so many different boobs and I'm sure mine are really nothing special so try not to worry too much.xx

  • First time round at CT scan it was 3 females but my second one was 1 male and then another male came as they were checking details. The male was very reassuring and was very respectful of me lying there. He covered my other boob with the big toilet paper but it kept slipping so in the end I said not to bother. I've got to the stage where I wasn't bothered just let me get the scan over with x

oh dear,  but that was very nice of them, I'm probably overthinking it and like you I want to be  at the I don't care stage :)

  • Just been to see Oncologist about starting radiotherepy, was hoping it would be 5 sessions, but it’s going to be 15, chest wall and lower neck, has anyone else had this … I’m dreading it ? x

Oh, at your results meeting did they say 5 or is it up to the oncologist to decide? I'm getting results Monday

  • Hi. Crawler

i an 4 weeks post RT. I had 15 over 3 weeks on the same areas as you. I was in and out in 15mins it is painless and very doable I had a pink boob a bit like sunburn just kept moisturising with aveeno now boob is a little darker than the other one but that’s it. Don’t worry and overthink it.

    Take care
