Nice approved PHESGO last week and I had my first subcutaneous injection today . Only have 4 more to go now and treatment finished . Assume any side effects will be similar to previous IV doses but interested to hear if anybody else having it

  • Hi  - good advice re pre-warming but would take a while to warm it up though as it’s 10ml and I think Herceptin is 5ml? The guidance is to inject it over 5 minutes which they do. Only the first few mls that sting - after that it’s OK . Had my second yesterday and was OK . Only 3 to go and then the year of Herceptin and Perjeta is finished !

  • Hi Carlo41

It’s amazing how well you will feel not having the docetaxel, I’m so pleased it’s your last one, you will realise how brave you’ve been in a few weeks and the docetaxel will be a distant memory. You can make it through this next couple of weeks then tackle the next step!

I definitely hit the chemo wall like you but have felt much better since not having the docetaxel, I’ve got surgery next week and then T & P will start again 2 weeks after that.
Sending positive thoughts for your journey ahead xxx

  • I am pleased to hear this Pineapple21.

I had my last round of Docetaxel with Pertuzamab and trastuzamab just over a week ago and my side effects from changing drugs from EC to the above have been much more unpleasant.

As far as I am aware I should continue with the T and P for another 15 3 weekly sessions. I thought they would be via IV but my nurse at my last session said they are going to be given by injection. I need to clarify this with my oncologist as I thought they might have let me know!

It's difficult to know which drugs are causing the side effects when you are having 3 different ones at the same time, as well as Filgisfrim injections which I only started with the Docetaxel. I'm hoping I don't need to continue with those now the Docetaxel has finished. Another thing to clarify with my oncologist.

I'm waiting to hear about my surgery now. Thought I might have heard but perhaps they are waiting to see what my MRI shows up on Monday

    Moppers:

Have you been having the Herceptin combo for the full year (via IV then final 4 subcutaneously) or have you just had 4 lots of Herceptin?

  • Hi , Yes I am finishing the year of Her/Per, having had the majority IV . My oncologist switched me to Phesgo as soon as it became available so the last 5 will be subcutaneous.

Sounds as if you are getting through things and you won’t be needing to continue with Filgrastim - something to celebrate!

    Best wishes re your surgery

  • Thanks Pineapple21 great to hear this and feel ive Climbed that wall and your kind words help xx

Good Luck with your surgery next week and wishing you a speedy recovery.

    Take care. xx

  • Hi

i have finished the chemo in January and I am still having the pertuzamab and trastuzumab in 3 weekly cycles until November.  Just wondering if you or anyone has side affects on these?

I suffer from really aching bones in my legs and hips. Some days I am okay but some days I walk like I am 20 years older.  I thought I would start to feel better after the chemo but sometimes I feel awful.

    best wishes all x
