Secondary Breast cancer

Hello Everyone,

I wish this was my first visiting the community but it's my 3rd. So a little about me, I am 54, in 2016 I was diagnosed with BC and also found out I am BRCA2 positive, then in 2021 I was diagnosed with local reoccurrence BC, same breast and same place, moving on to now, so I have recently discovered I have secondary BC which has spread to the right breast, bones, liver and possibly brain, which I find out later today and see Oncology tomorrow for my treatment plan.

I am terrified this could be the end for me.

Any advice out there?

All my love

  • Hello

I am so sorry to read your post.  I'm not in your position, but if it's any support at all, when I was teaching I had a woman student with brain cancer and she was living her normal life.  I am guessing she was on treatment and it was preventing it getting worse.  If I hadn't been advised, I definitely wouldn't have known.  (I had to be advised of all disabilities when I was teaching).

I tought silversmithing as an evening course and she made some amazing jewellery, so it certainly didn't impact her abilities.  I remember her specifically as she had a piece of sea glass that had broken in 2 and she made a ring for her and a ring for her best friend who was her biggest supporter, so that they shared the sea glass in the jewellery.  It seemed such a lovely thing for her to do.

If after you've spoke to oncoloy and have more questions, please do ring Macmillan to get some more support.  0808 808 00 00. There is also a secondary breast cancer group, but it's much quieter than this group.

    Kindest wishes, Lesley
