Hello, Im new to this this group but just wanted some advice.
I was diagnosed last October, had surgery in November and started EC treatment in February and now have 3 more Paclitaxel sessions left, then will be having radiotherapy. I have met with my consultant today who has suggested that aswell as hormone therapy for 5 years, due to my breast cancer being a 3cm grade 3 lump, I would benefit from taking Ribociclib for 3 years. The side effects appear to be similar to those of Paclitaxel, I know that not everyone get all of them but would love to get anyone's experiences please. I'm trying to see if the benefits outweigh the possible side effects.
Thanks
Hi, welcome to the forum. I haven't personally got the experience you are looking for, but I am one of the champions here in the group and I just wanted to say hello. I am sure someone will be along soon with some advice for you. Best wishes
Hi I’ve been on Ribociclib for 9 months now and have had very few issues with it. I was very reluctant to take it after reading about possible side effects similar to Docitaxel chemotherapy drug. My oncologist encouraged me try it but said if it didn’t suit me we would stop it. However I’ve been fine, very few minimal side effects and now 9 months later I don’t even think about it. I know it’s different for everyone and you must do what’s right for you . Good luck with your ongoing journey. Xxx
Hi, I have been on Ribociclib for nearly a year now. My main side effect has been constipation so I need a daily dose of golden linseed. I sometimes feel a bit nauseous in the mornings but I try and drink plenty and it eases off without being a problem.
I'm also on Letrozole. I generally lack energy but I don't know whether that is my age or effects of the medication, chemo or radiotherapy.
I go out walking most days and swim once a week, keeping active helps although I am slower walking than I was.
I had a mastectomy Nov 24, 4 x EC, 4 x Paclitaxel and 15 x radiotherapy which I completed in April 25.
Wishing you all the best with your ongoing treatment, anything else, please ask.
Glad you asked about this, Deb H. Im in exactly the same place as you at the moment - although had a mastectomy which found a much larger cancer spread in the breast, which ups the ante a bit. 2 days after first paclitaxol, I ve woken up with aches and pains in my legs today, incidentally. Not bad but I’d thought I might get away with it!
I think that I've been really lucky with the minimal side effects of both treatments EC and Paclitaxel so far. But suppose fear of the unknown is always at the back of a person's mind
Thanks
That's really helpful to know. I've tolerated both EC and Paclitaxel really well so far and my Oncologist feels that given that, it is a good thing for me to take. Although probably naively I was hoping to get away with nothing other than Anastrozole hormone therapy.
Thank you for telling me about your experience, I appreciate it and feel a bit more positive. However, I don't have to decide until my next consultation in August.
Absolutely. I waited 14 weeks for chemo to start after op. Id been dreading it so much so was quite conflicted, knowing also the risks of delay!
Hello
Just as another point, can I ask if you hair continued to grow back when taking the ribociclib
Thanks
Debbie
Hello
Can I ask, did your hair continue to grow back even when you were taking the ribociclib?
One of the side effects of ribociclib is hair thining or loss
Thanks
Debbie
