Hi everyone, new here! Ok, last August I had a funny bruise on my left breast which started off yellow, and went black. No injury etc, no explanation. I sent it to the doctor, she called me in. She found a lump. Sent me to Clinic, had mammogram/scan and they found NOTHING!! However since then my left breast has continued to have this 'tingling' sensation in it. I have dense breasts. Found what I think is the same lump, went back to doctor yesterday and she has sent me back to the same clinic again. My question is, I was shocked that the first time the lump 'disappeared'. If it was a cyst, wouldn't there be something to show if it had burst? As my breasts are dense, is it possible that they actually missed the lump on the mammogram and scan (not looking to blame anyone here) as I find it odd, I found the lump, doctor has felt the 'two lumps'. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks x
If mammogram comes back negative again you can always ask for other imaging.
At my Rapid Access appointment at a Regional Centre of Excellence, Specialist Breast Clinic, following the mammograms, I was given a very thorough ultrasound scan by a Consultant Radiologist that showed up issues i.e. a positive node as well as the lump - these were both punch biopsied and had small titanium clips placed in them both there and then, as locators. so that the areas of concern could always be identified in future even if they changed. Sounds terrible, but all was done under painless local anaesthetic.
This meant that by the time I left, about a couple of hours later, things were well ahead towards getting a definitive diagnosis. I was then immediately referred for an MRI scan [got appointment about 10 days later] and later after the MRI for CT scan.
If you are worried, ask for further imaging tests. If your clinic can't or doesn't do these routinely, ask to be referred to somewhere which can, or will, investigate further for you.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Go for it!
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Newly diagnosed here, I found a lump in my breast over Christmas time, it is tender and sore. Had a biopsy and the doctors were surprised it was cancer, they told me they thought it was inflammed tissue. The lump didn't show up on my mammogram so I'm going for an MRI on Monday. After this we can discuss a treatment plan. My point is trust your gut, ask for an MRI/biopsy, don't leave it unless you know exactly what you have x
