Hi all, i was diagnosed recently with invasive lobular stage 1 grade 3 breast cancer, some results are back from my biospy, ER8 & PR8, still waiting on the HER results & MRI
My next appointment is Monday, the wait is starting to get me down, my husband is in denial & doesn't want to talk about it
I just want to know what going to happen and what to expect treatment wise
They've said it been caught early, I didn't detect it, it was on a routine mammogram, they first told me it was 6mm, but have now said it's 10mm, only small I know
I do feel lucky that it's been identified, just wanted see if anyone here is able to give me some advise on what to expect
Thanks
Hi Hummingbird!
I was diagnosed on 30th December with ILC too. Approx 10mm. Believed to be grade 1-2, but still awaiting results. I've had the MRI results and no further cancer was found. I'm having my surgery on Monday for a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy. If all goes straightforward with that, then it will be around 5 rounds of radiotherapy. I've been keeping myself distracted by getting on with the practical side of things - like cleaning the house, getting meals prepped and in the freezer and buying a few items for hospital. I go in around 11 am on Monday and will be a day case, so out the same day.
Sorry you find yourself here, but it's a wonderful group with a wealth of experience and support.
Take care, Jo xx
Thank you Jo, i'm just struggling with the wait to be honest, during the week isn't too bad as i'm at work, weekends are the worst as I have time to think, trying to keep busy
Good luck with your surgery, my next appointment is Monday too at 11am, i'll be thinking of you, let me know how it goes
Take care ️
The waiting is the worst! Honestly, once there was a plan in place for treatment and I'd had that consultation, it did make me feel better. Good luck for Monday to you too. Let us know how it goes.
Jo xx
Will do, same to you re your surgery,
I think once I have all my results back and a plan i'll feel better ️
Hi Jo, just wanted to say I hope it all goes well for you tomorrow, will be thinking of you ️
Hi Hummingbird! Just wanted to check in and ask how your appointment was. I hope you're feeling all right. Hopefully you'll have more of an idea of a treatment plan?
My lumpectomy went well I think! The staff were all so lovely and I was seen by nurses, the anaesthetist and surgeon before I went down. But honestly, not as bad as I thought. I was up and about getting changed very quickly and honestly there was hardly any pain, just a little sore in my armpit. They stressed how important it is to do the exercises, repetitions of 5 times, 3 times per day. So please, don't worry about the operation. I got really quite nervous beforehand, but I want to tell you that you'll sail through it!
Take care, Joanne xx
That's "positive" news Hummingbird! Yes I do think your case is similar to mine. I just need to wait for the biopsy results. I hope you are feeling a little better.
Jo xx
Hi Jo, yes I do feel better, thanks
How about you, hope you're not too sore following the surgery
They gave me all details yesterday on the surgery, excerises etc, so i'm preping for that, hopefully i'll get a call this week with a date
You take care, hope you have lots of people around you looking after you ️
Hi Jo, just been thinking of you & wondered how you were feeling now as it's been a couple of days since your op
Hope you're doing ok
Take care ️
