  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

It's perfectly natural to feel angry and scared when you've just discovered that you have secondary breast cancer.

You ask how and why this happens and it's because sometimes cancer cells spread through the blood or the lymphatic system to other parts of the body and form another tumour. The tumour in the other part of the body is made up of breast cancer cells. Macmillan have this information which tells you more about secondary breast cancer and it's treatment which you might find helpful.

I can see that you've joined the secondary breast cancer group and I'm sure if you post there you'll find lots of people willing to share their experiences and give you support.

  • Hi

Another warm welcome to the community. I'm so sorry that you are going through this and I totally understand that you are angry and scared - I think we all would be.

I see that you've also posted in Ask a Nurse about treatment, but we are all here for you too.

I'm sorry that your post slipped down the page a little - this is a very large group and things move pretty quickly at times and posts sometimes get a little lost. But we are a very friendly bunch and more than happy to offer you whatever support you need.

As latchbrook mentioned you've joined the Secondary group, no need to tell you about that, but we all tend to just post in whatever group we feel comfortable in. We have a few long-running threads where we get together and chat, motivate etc as well as the individual posts. You are more than welcome to join in those if you want to and, of course to post and answer anything else.

Once you know your treatment plan, we usually have monthly threads for those having chemo or radiotherapy - they are places for everyone to connect and share tips and experiences.

I hope you're doing OK - let us know how things are going and we'll support you through it all

Sending some virtual hugs for now
