Hi, I’m 47 and was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in October after my routine mammogram through action cancer. I’ve had my surgery and 9 sessions of radiotherapy, and on hormone tablet for 5 years.

It was all a whirlwind, and I went into autopilot throughout all treatment, but hit a wall on the day it finished, but only for that one day. Since then I feel fine, and am due back to work. Everyone seems shocked I’m ready to go back already and friends and family seem to be making more out of what I’ve went through than I do!

Has anyone else felt this way, and will the reality hit at a later date or did u just accept what happened and move on?I know everyone deals with these experiences differently.

Thanks for taking time out to listen/read or answer.

HI Twinny9673 welcome to the forum and so glad that all the treatment  is past for you and well done for getting through that and coming out the other side.

I think what you describe in your second para is how a lot of us feel but that one day thing can last for others for longer but we are all different and that's how you feel then that's great and whats important in all of this is what and how you feel so what others think is really not important in the big scheme of things and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Just remember that if you should find yourself in anyway feeling like you need to talk then you know that you can pop on here and have a chat. Hope the first day back at work goes well and that you enjoy being back. xxxx

There is a very good article written by a clinical psycologist called 'After the Treatment Finishes - Then What'.  It is a very good read and it gives a really good insight to how you are probably feeling.  It is also useful for people around you to read. If you put the title into google you should find it.
