Hello all just joined

I had my diagnosis back in July last year HER2 + breast cancer 3cm tumour and lymph nodes

I had chemo 7 rounds which knocked me for 6, but I got through.

I had surgery 2 weeks ago lumpectomy with full node clearance , I have just been told by surgeon that all signs of cancer have gone and an awaiting radiotherapy schedule

i am ok but still really uncomfortable with the pain even though I am doing my exercises, I’m hoping it will get better

just wanted to say hello to everyone

Hi Bella, so sorry you are going through this. Good news that the cancer is gone. The Lymph node clearance is a bigger op than the MX I think. I have had that and an MX. I am starting Chemo soon. Its a bloody hard slog but we will get through it. Do you have someone to look after you? Did you get many of the side effects of Chemo? Sending Big gentle hugs. Anna x

  • Hi I am sorry to hear that you are in pain following your lumpectomy and full node clearance. My experience when I had the full node clearance was that the pain lasted longer for that than the lumpectomy. Are you taking painkillers before you do the exercises?- I found taking a couple of Paracetemol taken about 20 minutes  before I did the exercises certainly helped. The nerve type pain seems to last intermittently for several months and then recedes- I was told it was the nerves knitting together again. If you have any redness in the node clearance site or it feels hot, do get in touch with your BCN or GP as it may be an infection.Good news that you are doing the exercises and even better that your surgeon has told you that all signs of cancer have gone. Congratulations -you have now HAD cancer. !! The radiotherapy if you need it is just belts and braces to prevent recurrence. Sending hugs xx
