Hi.... Would appreciate people’s experiences after having a bone infusion. Had a couple of months ago and I ache like hell. Ached anyway due to the Letrozole but now even my feet ache. Getting down the stairs first thing hurts. I’m 57, active, eat clean and exercise. Although I’m not doing what I was due to immobility. So has anyone experienced their body aching all the time. Had Breast cancer, radiotherapy and now on letrozole. Look forward to your answers xx

  • Hi there

I’ve had one infusion, back in September, and was in quite a bit of discomfort for the next 48 hours and was certainly “fluey “ for a week after but it wore off after that. I’m a bit younger than you at 49 and currently on Tamoxifen so may make a difference?

( I’m just about to be switched to Letrozole which I am rather dreading given I’m pretty much side-effect free on Tamoxifen!)

    Perhaps speak to oncology?

I hope the pains lessen for you!

    Hi,

I would think its the Letrozole that is causing the continued aching.  I'm on Femara which is the branded Letrozole, I changed to Femara in the hope some of the awful aches and pains in my hands and mood swings would ease, it really hasn't made any difference, I feel 10 years older than I did before I started them 2 years ago, my fingers have now become really quite swollen and knobbly and are so painful, by the end of the day I feel as though I can't use my hands any more until next day, my feet also ache but to a lesser degree, my Consultant said the AI's affect the small joints.  I'm quite an active person, not sure if being inactive would make the situation easier or harder to bear.  I take 1 Cuprofen at bedtime along with a Paracetamol and 2 Paracetamol during the daytime.  I'm on the tablet form of bisphosphonate.

  • I’ve heard that some women find taking a loratidine antihistamine daily helps with the Letrozole  pains - is that something you’ve ever tried?

Hi... thank you so much for replying. I think from reading a lot of stuff it is probably the letrozole causing the aches. I’ll keep at it and see if body gets used to it. Good luck on your swop xx

Hi.... yes I think it may well be the letrozole that is finally at its peak and causing havoc. I have phoned the cancer nurse 3 times but no one calls back. I’ll see if it lessons if not I’ll go to my GP. Also going to try what Mollusc has suggested...loratidine antihistamine xx

  • I hope it helps! Got to be worth a try anyway

I start Letrozole next week and really not looking forward to it

Ive dug out my histetmine tablets and taken one, so will keep it up. I’ve not done too well on the letrozole if I’m honest but you may be one of the lucky ones... fingers crossed for you x
