Hi. I am almost 2 months since my lumpectomy and still waiting for my scan to plan for radiotherapy. I had an issue with a large haemotoma which has delayed healing but my arm is starting to feel more like my own again. Next attempt at the scan is next Tuesday so fingers crossed!

My only concern now is that I have developed a new cord running from my lymph node scar to my nipple which is carving a deep groove in the breast tissue and so not sure if that will delay radiotherapy further.  I have been massaging it twice a day as directed and am doing my stretches (have really good movement in my arm) but it is just not budging. Does anyone have any experience of this or advice?

  • Hi,

So sorry you’ve got the dreaded cording, my advice would be to contact your BCN and ask for a physio referral as I would suspect tightening of tissue could be an issue with radiotherapy? (Please, anyone, correct me if I’m wrong!)

    Do keep posting

  • To add to this, do explore the site as I have read that there’s a section on cording. .....
