Hello Busybeez
sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It is a worrying time, and you don’t want financial worries on top.
I know SSP doesn’t go very far, but it is a start. Try to plan ahead a bit. Talk to Macmillan financial advisers. They will help you work out if there is anything else you might be eligible for. Also talk to some of the people you pay bills to. Mortgage companies, land lords, energy companies are all likely to respond favourably if you approach them in advance and explain the situation. You might be able to negotiate reduced bills for the three months to help you through.
Some people are able to work part time through radiotherapy, depending on how they feel with it. It might be worth talking to your employer to see if there could be some flexibility.
Good that you haven’t too long to wait for your op. I hope it goes really well, and recovery is quick.
Best wishes,
Judith
