Hi all
I'm new to the forum and just after some advice if anyone can help please?
I have a hospital appointment next week but working myself up worrying about a lump or shape that's appeared in my breast. I am perimenopausal and large breasted. I have a long area that has a bump in the middle of it and a lump underneath. I appreciate you wouldn't know what it is but I'm just wondering if this is something I should be worrying about or could it just be normal changes of aging? My breasts have been lumpy but feel more so at the moment . Thanks for reading
Hi Star 68 welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear how worried that you are and little wonder with the unknown its a horrible time for you in limbo.
I wish I could re-assure you but this could be absolutely anything. It could as you suggest be because your breasts are lumpy anyway and could be related to hormones in origin or it could be something that needs further investigations. It sounds like you are being seen soon though so that is good news and hopefully they will be able to tell you exactly what that is when they have examined you and maybe taken more images etc.
It can be very tempting at this point in time to go on and search Dr Google please DON'T it is not always reliable and not specific enough for what you need and can throw up answers that scare people because it is so generic and what you need is specific to you.
I am so sorry not to have been of more help but glad that you found us as we will support you as much as we can for as long as we can and there with you every step of the way through this whatever the outcome for you.
Meantime Im sure sum huge big hugs would not go amiss so I'm sending some your way for now. xxx
Hi Gail
Thank you for your message and hugs. Yes you're so right I needed it x
It's good that they're seeing me so quickly. I've had cysts before but this does not feel the same and there is no pain as there was with those. My breasts are generally lumpy but feel very up and down and in summer my breasts became so full and I could feel cysts all through them. I hadn't had a period for 3 or 4 months at this point and 1 didn't come but the lumps started to go down but there was one that was particularly stubborn and not sure if the lump I can now feel is indeed this lump or has been there a while and only became obvious to me cos I was constantly feeling! I also then got my period about 4 weeks ago and since it now feels like a thick vein with a bump in it. Like if you looked at the diagram of the breast it feels like the lobules but would these be palpable and
would there be pain? Having lumpy breasts also makes it worse to to decide if it's normal as I don't know what normal feels any more
