  1. Quick back story, Was diagnosed in sept 21  (after being misdiagnosed since April 21) mastectomy and SNB (1/3 positive) Nov 21 26mm invasive with a total of 92mm (non ivasive and invasive) was due to start chemo in the Jan 22 but my youngest DD got covid and then so did I, so chemo was deferred until Feb 22. Started chemotherapy last week, having 5FEC-T and then on the 4th cycle I will start Herceptin.
  2. Just really wanted some positive vibes tbh as although yes I know my cancer has a positive outcome at the end of all the treatments (consultant said 98% survival rate for the next 10 years), it is a very scary place to be especially when I have children at home and my partner lives elsewhere, it's harder that I am not allowed to bring anybody with me while I have the chemotherapy due to covid restrictions etc. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing ok. Thank you for reading x

Hi! I’m really glad it went ok, it’s really not that bad on the day is it. It sounds like you had pretty much what I have, I have the injection first and then two bags. I’m very impressed you’ll do the injections yourself! I really woudl love to but I’m just too much of a wuss! And my next treatment is the penultimate one and I sort of like having the nurse pop in so I am hopefully going to stick with that - although the hospital is determined to get me to do them myself!!
Keep going, eat whatever you feel like and I hope you get a nice bit of time between now and the next one :) xx

Thank you Txl47 for your lovely comments! I will report back how the self medicating goes! I’m determined to try! Glad you’re coming to the end. What’s next for you? Best wishes xx

  • Really pleased your first treatment went well Tavares. Take all the meds they give you and you should be sickness & Nausea free.

Can I ask how they gave you the Docatexal & other drugs ?

Oh yes do report back! A small part of me wants to have a go during the final week of them, but I’m not sure! I’m not the sort of person that is good with stuff like that so maybe I’ll leave it to the nurses! Ha!

So I have two more sessions, on the 26th and then the 17th May. I am (I think) having a scan on the 26th to see what’s been going on, we already know the cells in the nodes under my arm have been zapped but they are going to examine my boob… it’s definitely changed though, it’s not at all swollen/inflamed anymore, or red or scaly - sorry that’s a bit gross! - and the lump, whilst I can still feel it - darn it - does feel smaller… so hopefully all will be well at the check up. Then I’m due a single mastectomy, and then some radiotherapy. I’m not sure after that as my nurse said they won’t make a decision on what I have after the radio - hormones etc - until after my op. But I’m hoping it will all be quite straight forward….
I’ve managed to get through this by just not wanting to know anything apart from essential info (much to a lot of people’s horror!) so my nurse has been great with what she tells me. I have awful anxiety so we’ve managed to deal with that very well during this whole thing…

Got a heart scan next week, I think someone else mentioned they were having one, I think she told me it was routine so hopefully that will be ok too! X

  • Seaside, I've got everything crossed for you on Tuesday. Let us know how you get on.

Yes I've got to take 8 the day before for 3 days along with anti sickness. I expect as usual they'll be more steroids after.. but that's ok..

    Best wishes

Yep, had Docetaxel and Carboplatin, plus paracetamol and injection in leg (which took 8 mins!) had to be done slowly. Now I know why chemo takes so long as so many breaks in between! Just waiting toScreamee if/when after effects kick in!   Scream

  • Glad you are doing well and just 2 more cycles to go.  The heart scans are routine but good luck with it.

    Take care xxx

  • Aww thanks Jebe. Different hospitals must have different ways. I get an anti sickness drip and steroid drips the same time as my chemo. Then 3 days steroids and 6 days antisickness drugs but they give more more so I usually keep taking them till the 7 days injections finish.

    Will keep everyone posted.

Lots of positive vibes for you all xxx

Ooh! I get given Ondansetron anti sickness for 2 days after the treatment - I feel cheated! Haha! They give me extra though too and I usually keep taking it for much longer as I don’t really have much going on at all those first two days, my nausea if i get it is usually at the weekend….. they did give me another anti-sickness too that was for 5 days but I stuck to the Ondansetron and that seems to be fine on its own… x
