Hi All,
I’m due to start Kadcyla next month.
I’ve had chemotherapy, lumpectomy and and recently finished radiotherapy.
Just wanted to ask how the side effects are if anyone is on Kadcyla?
Hi isn't kadcycla like a belt n braces incase there is a rogue cell, my area was 20mm removed with clear margins but my dcis was not. My belt n braces is my herceptin and chemo. I have heard kadcycla is much more tolerated. I think your size 2.1cm is stage 2 mine was 20mm and lymph nodes clear classed stage 1 grade 2. Best wishes with your treatment xx
Hi Shaz
thank you
its on my first notes printed out from the hospital that it was stage 3, grade 3 , on the confidential report , I asked for it ( the print out ) . I don’t know if they down grade this after the chemo , or surgery ?? ♀️
policy and procedures change all the time too, along with treatment plans/ ideas
a friend of mine 2 years ago , same breast cancer her2 similar reduction wasn’t offered Kadcyla ?
i heard my hospital follows the Royal Marsden procedures ( for oncology ?)
Hi Debs - I asked for the histology report too when I say the Onco. I think that Kadcyla was only approved by NICE in 2019 and not all NHS trusts offer it I believe. Hope you are doing ok
Hi LoveLove2, I'd like to hear how you're getting on too. I'm heading into #4 next Tuesday. My body has coped better with #3 than the previous rounds. Hope you are doing OK, xx
Keep going as long as your able with kadcyla. I have just 2 more to go . It has certainly got easier as the infusions have happened.
Hate going so much but I’m nearly there. Strong !!!
Well done Hmfm - giving me inspiration to get through mine when they start in July. Glad to hear that they have got easier over time. Got to get through radiotherapy first and just started taking Letrozole today (for next 10 yrs) - amazing that there is the science out there to help us all. Keep strong x
Oh that's great that the end is in sight for you, it's certainly a slog and I know what you mean about hating going. Do report back in at the end if not before as it's good to hear from ladies getting through it. Can't remember if you're working (sorry if you've said higher up the thread)! xx
Hope the Letrozole goes smoothly for you. I discussed it with my consultant yesterday as I'm not going to start on it until I've finished the Kadcyla, she said it's one of the many grey areas of medicine where there's pros and cons of when to start but her preference is not to take together.
And hey, happy bank holiday Kadcyla friends! xx
Yes I’m back working 10 hour nightshift and 5 hour evening shift per week, District Nurse so very varied In patients visits.
I will post when I’m complete ️
I was told to start my letrozole just after surgery, before RT
