So mastectomy last Wednesday and had drain and bandage off yesterday. What a relief. What’s next.? Still waiting for results from surgery. I am feeling really good apart from the pain. I am so hoping my biopsy isn’t bad and that reconstruction can start in the not too distant future
Hi
Well done! Its good to be free of those drains isn't it? I hope your margins are clear and your sentinel nodes show no cancer too.
I'd however manage your expectations regarding reconstruction (maybe easier with implants but DIEPs in short supply currently) as a lot are being delayed from planned dates at the moment, you may be lucky of course and your hospital may be able to press ahead besides which am sure you probably want a rest from surgery for a bit mm? I had to wait for my DIEP for 10 months as had rads following mx.
Take it easy and do those exercises religiously and ensure you get out for a walk as these will all help your recovery. I presume you're taking paracetamol (or whatever you've been given) for the pain?
Sam
