Got my first Chemo later today, will this be the end of life as I know it. I know I have cancer but still feel well, so worried that I won’t feel like this again for a very long time

Hi Tiger Belle, I hope everything goes well today. I am a couple of weeks behind you. Stay strong, you can do this. Sending big hugs. x

  • Hi Tiger Belle,

Wishing you well today. I’m now 9 weeks into my chemo treatment and it’s surprising how quickly the time goes.
I remember being told all the side effects and feeling absolutely petrified but as someone on this site mentioned, there are plenty of ladies who get few to no side effects and carry on fairly normally, we just don’t hear from them.

The nurses today will be so lovely and put you at ease. Try & take each day as it comes and if you feel a bit rotten there is a specific Chemo thread under Teatment Diagnosis & Questions (or similar heading). All the ladies on there are really supportive of each other.

You’ve got this! Sending hugs x

    Hi

Good luck today with your first chemo session.

I started my chemotherapy in May and completed it at the end of October, total 8 sessions 3 weeks apart. I had very little side effects I was sick once due to me eating a large pizza on my first chemo session. They do advise to eat a light meal, I had constipation for a day or so following my first 4 sessions which was dealt with by taking laxatives and I had oral thrush twice again resolves by taking medication.

You do not get all the side effects so try and be positive and take each session as it comes.

You will get through it and it does go very quickly.

    Take care

    Linda x

  • Thanks for the replies, the chemo was a lot less stressful than I thought it would be. The nurse who gave it to me was someone I knew so made me feel quite relaxed. I walked out feeling fine but staFingers crosseding to feel a bit strange now. A bit nauseous and my face feels weird. Just have to wait and see what happens now Fingers crossed it won’t be to bad
