Hi everyone,
As you'll be able to see, we're testing a new group layout.
We've set up this thread as a place where you can give us your feedback about the new layout. We want to hear what you think - whether it's things you think work well, or need tweaking, here's the place to do it!
You can read more about the changes in our recent notice.
Best wishes,
Ellen
Hi Ellen, I DON'T GET IT! WHY is everything being changed AGAIN? Some of us have only just got used to the new layout, in fact some of the AWAKE group haven't even managed to stay in touch with the original 'new' site! Now they'll try and come back on and be even more lost!
I have the AWAKE thread as one of my 'bookmarks' so I thought Oh well that's okay I'll just click on that as normal and it'll jump to that thread!! Know such luck, it just took me to the message saying things were changing.
So I scrolled down through the 'chats' section, thinking logically that that is where an ongoing chat would be! 4 pages down I decided my logic was wrong.
So I went into the Archives section and that's where the AWAKE thread was! But WHY? Is it because it's not been moved yet? Or do they really think that's where it belongs?!
Now I know some of us on there have been on there a long time and probably belong in the Archives, but I like to think we all have a bit of life left in us yet. So maybe the chat section would be better?!
On a completely different subject I can sort of understand the thought process behind grouping things into different sections, however some of the 'oldtimers'like me prefer to stick to just the one thread. However if while I am looking for the AWAKE thread I saw a new post from a new member, that I thought I could assist. Then I would go on to read it and hopefully help them or at least Welcome them. However I would have no reason to go into the newbie section and so will now probably not read it and therefore not post! Which means those new members may be left for hours or days without a reply because no one has popped on there!
I also wonder if the newbies would venture onto the chat section? Or if they would feel they needed to wait for an initial reply before they could venture further! I feel segregating things makes it less friendly and less approachable. In my opinion!
Breast Cancer is Breast Cancer, whether you are newly diagnosed, having treatment, living life after Breast Cancer or Living with Secondary Cancer! Why turn it into different groups, where it feels you have to pass through one section before you are welcome in the next?
I might be newly diagnosed waiting for results and unable to sleep! So whereas before I might of joined Mac, found the Breast Cancer group and found a thread that applied to my not sleeping, and join in. Now I would see the section for newbies and just start a post there, which if I'm lucky someone might spot and reply too. Or another newbie might say hi. But all those 'experienced' Breast Cancer members might never find these newbies and so won't give them the support and advice they need!
I think I have said enough now as my fingers are sore! But I hope you can understand what I am saying! It's not me saying I don't like change I'm just saying I don't think this is the best way forward! But others may say it's great!! Sal x
Completely agree with everything LondonLass, says it’s an utter nightmare, the awake thread is one of the busiest threads and a life line to us all. This site has lost lots of members because of all your stupid changes, that if and when you can actually get on it.
Agree absolutely with LondonLass and . HATE THIS ! Can’t find that AWAKE thread, want and need to connect with my friends, and have not got the mental space to cope with any more stress!!!!! I have got enough going on in my life and do not want to have to search and get lost ANY MORE !!
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Thank you LondonLass. Can we stop them doing this? I’m really upset!
Incase I can’t navigate this abomination , p,ease can I have LP fir Saturday? Having my first cataract done. If he gets to my place at 12, I can give him some treats in the car. Xxx
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Hi all, agree that the Awake section should move to the Chat section, would like to request same for the Walking back to happiness thread, please. Surely any thread that has had recent and regular activity should not be archived? I can only really keep up properly with threads via my email notifications these days....
Thanks, HFxx
Sorry, Ellen, but I think Macmillan has scored another own goal with this one. Did any actual users if the site ask for these changes? I seriously doubt it! I agree with everything LondonLass has said. Please stop ruining what used to be a great site and a source of mu h needed support.
Sorry Ellen,
I guess it was worth a try but it hasn’t worked; it’s even more clumsy in use!
please revert back. I’ve tried to reply to someone and it elongates the whole page so much in a really clumsy fashion.
Moomy
