Hi all can I see if anyone has any advice please. 11 months since my first diagnosis which was completely visually obvious I’ve had a niggling ache/pain opposite side just under armpit for a week now. Thought possibly pulled muscle so haven’t done anything yet but wondered if anyone had pains at start of their journey? Also do I have to start back at GP to get it checked or can I go direct to BC nurse with concerns? Thanks for any advice, huge hugs for everyone xx
Hi Santababy
You might want to give your BC nurse a ring to see what she says? I wonder though if the niggling ache/pain in the other side might just be related to differences in the way you hold yourself/ issues with your other side. I was surprised how long I took to stop aching after my lumpmectomy - it was a year and 3 months before I realised that I'd stopped hurting in my chest area.
Based on my BC nurse, she just said "it's early days yet" when I mentioned aches and pains after 8 months, so you may well get the same response from yours. Your doctor may be more forthcoming with a referral if you really want your mind to be put at rest with a mammogram. Although, hopefully as it's 11 months since, within a month you should be getting your first annual, so it could be that you ask your BC nurse to fast track it now? I was going to be on holiday when one of mine was due, so they got me in on a cancellation a month before.
Best wishes,
Lesley x
Thank you lesleyhelen I will give her a ring on Monday, yes my first mammogram is due next month though they have said it could be slightly delayed till end of month but as you say they could possibly let me have any cancellation that comes along. Hoping I’m just being hyper sensitive and not about to jump on that rollercoaster again, heads still spinning from last ride . Hope your currently doing well. Have a great day huge hugs xx Anne
Hi Santababy(great name btw)..just s wuickie to say , yes I did have a dull sort of soreness, a bit like a bruising, on one of my cancer “lumps” .The other I didn’t.Anyway, both were found at the same time.,4 years ago.a minth ago I thought I felt the same” bruising” soreness in my other breast, and was due to have my annual mammogram.I was so worried and had told my friend I felt it was ghr same sort of sorrness.Anyway went off to have my mammogram, only to be told ,” It was gine, nothing detected for you to worry about”. Nobody was more sirprised ghan me! That has happened twice. So you see you can’t really tell until evidenced by a Doctor and mammograms etc xxx
Thanks Violetsniff I will get the ball rolling Monday to get it checked. I’m a bit of a Christmas fanatic, hence the name, Christmas in July has been fantastic this year, working from home meant I could watch Christmas films all day and the way this years going the tree could go up any day
take care and thanks for replying xx huge hugs
