Hi I was diagnosed with TNBC in November 2019 and commenced Chemotherapy in January 2020. Following a MRI and further biopsy showed a further Lobular tumour in the same breast. I finished chemotherapy and underwent a mastectomy 2 weeks ago. I received the histology results today which was excellent regarding Lymph Glands with no involvement. I was however surprised to hear that they found another malignant tumour in the same breast, this one being micropapillary. I know I’m really lucky in that the only further treatment I require is Tamoxifen but I’m shocked about the 3 different tumours and just wondered if anyone else has had similar. Many Thanks
Hi Bsthbsm welcome to the forum. Wow what can I say Cancer really is the gift that keeps giving in your case. How are you feeling about and dealing with all that news?.
I haven't heard of this before but I imagine that some of the other folks on her will be along soon and may be able to give you some other bits of information.
You will be absolutely reeling from all this at one time and I am in some disbelief reading your post so I cant imagine how you must be feeling. Hope that you are looking after yourself and being very spoiled.
Meantime Im sending some huge big hugs your way for now.xxxxx
Thank you so much Granny59 for your quick response. My feelings are all over the place to be honest.Very relieved that we went for a mastectomy as a lumpectomy with radio was originally the plan and that would have left the 3rd cancer to grow. Scared that 2 of these cancers never showed up on my mammogram in November last year and now I wonder about my other breast and whether tumours will be found just by the yearly mammograms. Happy that nothing was found in my lymph glands and feel that I should be grateful that this is the case. Mixed up lady should be my name.. x
Hi
I had IDC ER/PR+, but then 2 separate areas of DCIS (totalling 54mm) of ER/PR- So not tumours, but 2 different types of cancer. I only found it out after a year when I asked for a copy of my records and then asked the same question on here as you. Someone said that it was unusual, but not unheard of to have 2 different types - you really are unusual having 3 types - wow!!!
Fantastic news that none of these resulted in your lymph nodes being invaded. (same with me). What I found out was they treat to the worst type. So, you've got the chemo (and you're having the Tamoxifen for the ER+) and the mastectomy has taken them all out. Lucky they did a mastectomy and find the 3rd one by the sounds of it.
Kindest wishes to you
Hi
I had a mucinous invasive cancer, but after my second op to try and clear the margins, the pathology showed that I also had another small different cancer (IDC). I also had over 40mm of DCIS. I was really shocked and asked how this had been missed, especially with all the mammograms and scans I had had. Unfortunately I had to go for a third surgery, this time to remove my nipple, but I was so worried that they would find another cancer, luckily they didn’t and at last they got the clear margins they needed!
The main thing for me is that my nodes were also clear and that’s what I focused on. I’m now waiting to start my radiotherapy and then I’ll be have a new nipple in about 6 months!
I really hope everything goes well for you, it sounds as though your heading in the right direction.
best wishes
Mandy
THE tI’m Thanks Lesley
Yes I’m very lucky re mastectomy. My tumours measured between 4.5 mm and 3cm and were ( so good to be able to say they ‘were’ and are no longer there), all stage 2 and two tumours were grade 3 with one being a grade 2. While I realise that I’m lucky keep think that they may not detect any further tumours in my other breast on mammogram as only the TNBC has ever been seen on mammogram and no one has ever been able to feel any of them. This journey was all started by a routine mammogram!
Thanks for explaining about the rationale to treat the worse cancer. They did this as it was found first and this would be the TNBC hence the chemotherapy pre surgery, but adding Tamoxifen for the ER+ later one.
xx
