Hi all

When is it safe to moisturize your scar. Had mastectomy nearly 8 weeks ago . I'm reluctant to moisturise as I had an infection 5 weeks post mastcetomy and convinced myself it was my fault as I got moisturiser too close to my scar or I did something wrong when showering. I know its  probably not the case but I'm due to start chemo in a few weeks and I dont want to jeopardise starting that. Any advice would be helpful and also what to use. I do have sensitive skin and use unperfumed products.

Thank you all in advance

    Hi,

Sorry to hear you had an infection but glad you are better. I had my masectomy over 3 weeks ago . My surgeon when I saw her for my results on day 10 post-op said to start moisturising to keep the skin nice and supple plan to  get reconstruction so important skin is well nourished. I use bio oil and got some avveeno moisturiser cream. Prefer the bio oil as it soaks in. Use that in the morning then use moisturiser at night. Don’t like the feel of my chest so just dab it on lightly. So far so good.
