Hello all, so had my first chemo session 3 days ago, last night I went to bed with what I thought was a swollen tounge. But I slept fine. Woke up today and it was a little worse with breathing so called the onco/chemo number and they told me to go straight to a&e... all they did was check my obs and send me home with anti histamine. My tounge doesn’t feel swollen it just feels like I have been the dentist lol has anyone else had this? Can’t talk properly atm lol
Hello
I'm on my 5th chemo and its happening every time to me. My tongue was raw last time. Ask for difflam mouthwash next time you speak to your oncologist

Hi Julie
Thank you very much x I will ask for that x
Hello
A few days, I also avoid hot drinks and stick to bland food so it doesnt irritate it. I find milk quite soothing as well. What type of breast cancer do you have?
Julie x
I didn’t have a swollen tongue but what I did have was oral thrush. I couldn’t eat or drink and ended up in hospital on 3 occasions until they realised what was wrong. I was given Nystatin, a gel mouth rinse, sorry can’t remember what the name of it is and they also gave me the difflam mouthwash.
I hope you get things sorted. x
Thank you I will do the same! I have stage three breast cancer x
