Hi I’ve not been on here before and hope someone can relate to me. I’m just over halfway through chemo, had my 6th cycle yesterday. On increased steroids and they make me wide awake- does anyone else find this? Also my head is spinning because I am due for an MRI scan to see if chemo has shrank tumours and lymph nodes, I also have to see my surgeon to have a pre assessment prior to surgery , Does anyone know if reconstruction will be offered at same time and what do people advise if I have a choice? May not get the choice but want to be prepared, may need radiotherapy which I’ve read will delay the reconstruction ...
Hi,
Welcome to the forum, though I'm sorry to meet you here in the club nobody actually wants to join.
Sleeplessness is a very common reaction to steroids. There are many of us on here who have the same problem. Check out the AWAKE thread - you'll usually find a night owl or 2 on there at all hours. The steroids can also make you feel hungry all the time. You have been warned!
Thank you for your reply AP7! I shall check out that awake forum today, yes the hunger has hit me, tried to resist it but have not had the willpower, I wrongly assumed I would be tiny by the time I got to end of chemo but I’m putting on weight instead of losing it! Sorry to meet you also in these circumstances but it’s a great support !
