Hi Shamaria I am on Anastrozole (3months) and they want me to start Zometa soon. I was wondering how you are finding this regime. How long have you been on it for and how long do you have to take it.
Reading up on all this treatment makes it sound a bit scary.

    Hope to hear from you

  • Hi Arfie,   I have been on Anastrozole  since January 2018 and was offered Zometa infusions every six months for three years, the side affects scared me a bit so i declined the first one but was advised best to have it for bones, so i decided to have it, you have blood test at your doctors days before to check your calcium,  infusion takes about half an hour thats all, i had no side effects after just perhaps a little more tired than usual for few days no flu type symptoms at all. Anastrozole makes me feel very tired and achy but do i little exercise every day, used to do 3 miles eeeek  but  my legs feel like just got out swimming pool if i do more lol , are you having any side effects on your tabs, i to was very scared when diagnosed as i do not like hospitals and very anxious about everything, but just told myself to go with the flow, hope this helps a little.

    Keep safe.

  • I'm on letrozole,  and my when oncologist asked if I was taking my vitamin D I told her I was also taking a multi and vitamin E and she seemed happy with that.  There is a debate about taking anti oxidants after as well,  but not a big one.  Definitely don't take then fitting chrmo though as they will make it less effective.

Thanks for getting back I am doing ok on Anastrozole sometimes legs a bit achy but I do lots of walking have a 16month pup I have to take out. And try to be consistent with doing weight bearing exercises. I am also pretty sure it the reason my sleep is disturbed.

I am glad you are doing ok on Zometa. This is the first major health issue I have ever had so the last 8 months all seem a bit rushed and it’s all very daunting but I have just about come around to your way of thinking of  just getting on with it.

Hope you and yours are doing ok in lockdownHeart

  • One good thing with a pup it makes you go walks even if your legs achy, a reason to keep moving as you say weight bearing exercises best for us, i find Anastrozole causes insomnia sum nights go to bed tired and wake up in night feeling wide awake, never had that before, but i have got used to it now, first major health issue i have ever had every day is more precious when this happens to you, we are doing ok thank you in lockdown anything to prevent the spread of this terrible virus and for as long as it takes, worrying times for all of us at the moment, we clap every thursday at 8pm for our wonderfull NHS and key workers, do you and yours, i`m sure you will be fine on zometa, hope you and yours are coping too in lockdown situation.
