Warm welcome to March (hopefully) we could certainly do with some drier sunnier days
This thread is for all of you good folks going through chemotherapy to browse through, ask questions, answer questions and be there for each other in a way only you all know how.
If you want to find this post quickly, you can hit the 'Save In My Favourites' button - See discussion tools box on the right >
If you need any extra tips, our Chemo Tips Page is something you may find very helpful, and if you find a tip which helped you just reply to share with others who are also going through chemo. One top tip, ask about parking at the hospital where you are being treated; for some Cancer patients parking is either free or heavily discounted - So it's worth asking about.
Macmillan produce this Healthy Eating booklet if you have any diet concerns MAC13612_Healthyeating.pdf
If you need to refer back a month here is a link to February's Thread which will be being locked to replies soon.
Remember, you're never alone, you have us! Just try to focus on what your chemotherapy is doing to those evil cells. I hope all of you are doing as well as you can do while going through this tough part of your runaway mine cart ride.
Don't forget all cancer patients are entitled to a 5 Year Prescription Fee Exemption Card from your GP for meds to help with any side effects.
Happy March everyone, fingers crossed for maximum impact, minimal side effects and a few more warmer days.
'Have That Cancer'
Just checking in for March.
Have blood tests today for my second chemo (FECT) which will be tomorrow if bloods are OK.
First cycle went much better than I could have hoped for - very few side effects apart from a sore mouth (improved with regular salt-water rinses) and a bit of constipation. Temp spiked and white blood counts dropped on Day 11 which necessitated a quick check at the hospital but all was OK.
So - onwards and upwards - I feel I can cope OK with these next two treatments before we move on to the Docetaxol in April.
Wishing everyone the best for March treatment(s).
Also checking in for March. All being well tomorrow is my final chemo session. Final Docataxel. So just to get through the next couple of weeks of side effects and, God willing, I might catch the man with the light on his bike at the end of the tunnel. .
I think I can just see it in the distance.️
Good luck everyone with you treatments especially those just beginning the journey. Hope your side effects are minimal. Good luck . Hope all goes well.
Checking in for March - I'm now day 8 of 3rd EC chemotherapy cycle.. This time round it's been a bit more draining. Temperature was up most of the weekend but never reached 38 so managed to stay at home drinking loads and of course, multiple bathroom visits especially in the wee small hours when the bladder just won't switch off... Constipation and diahorrea are so painful.. emotionally this cycle has been hard too so I'm desperate to get through this and onto the fourth and final round.
I've had my dates for Radiotherapy through and I think that has made it harder as I've got treatment until Mid May and I'm running close to empty.. I want my life back xxx
On my way home from my final chemo. Given additional steroids to try and combat the side effects I get at the weekend. Was offered the opportunity of not having this chemo which I must admit was very tempting but having come this far I might as well get the job done. I want to beat this once and for all.
Autumn49 keep hanging in there, it's tough no doubt about it. I have times each cycle of being really down emotionally but have always felt a but better as the side effects wear off. I'm having chemotherapy before surgery and it's been shrinking Which is a real morale boost. Hope you feeling better soon x
Hi Everyone
I'm also just checking in as I start my chemo this friday , starting with 3 x EC followed by 3 x T.
I'm nervous about the side effects but also eager to get going. I'm sure we will get each other through this.
Good luck to all just starting chemo and to those who are finished or close to finishing I wish you well for the future.
Julie
Hi Ju72
Good luck this Friday with 1st Chemo, i remember the nerves like it was yesterday so i can totally relate to how your feeling.
I had 3 x FEC followed by 3 x T (some hospital trusts dropped the F....mine still did it.....hence why you will see some saying they have FEC T and others like yourself have EC T).
Side effects can vary from person to person so best advice i can give you is go with the flow and listen to your body. Just because Joe Bloggs suffered with a,b and c doesn't mean you will.
I basically took my anti sickness meds like clockwork....i used a very soft tooth brush...rinsed my mouth at minimum twice a day with medicated mouthwash and drank lots of water.
Were here for you to help you with tips and ways of coping with any side effects.
The chemo train can be a bumpy ride.....but you've totally got this!!!
xx
