Just finished radiotherapy and have noticed my wound where lymph nodes were removed is weeping slightly,  should I contact breast support nurse or my own GP.

    Hi

Sorry to see you joining us here but pleased to see you are almost at the end of treatment ?

I would try to contact your breast care nurse firstly as she probably has more experience of this than a GP would. Depends on if you have a good BCN or one that could do better :-/

You will keep 'cooking' for another two weeks post rads so the main thing would be to keep this clean to avoid any infection getting into the wound. I'm assuming the radiotherapy unit is closed over the weekend - so if your BCN doesn't get back to you give the rads unit a ring Monday morning. They may need to give you a medicated bandage or treat this in some way until it heals fully. Rads can affect the tissue increasing the healing time. Meanwhile try to keep it clean and just gently pat dry until you get more experienced advice. Do keep a look out for this becoming red and feeling hot as this is a sign of infection.

Hopefully there are some ladies here who have also had this weeping happen and can tell you how it went for them ?

    Take care, G n' J
