Hi All
I had my first chemo on Thursday last week(Docetaxel cyclophosamide her and per). Now on day 6 and so far manageable.I am really struggling mentally.Fear of the unknown, waiting for side effects, taking my temp (hot flushes don't help).I really don't feel like part of the world any more. Please tell me this gets easier
YES , it willl get easier . sounds like you are still at early stages , be kind to yourself , eat as healthily as possible , drink lots , keep warm and remind yourself chemo is toxic stuff , but it is only for a while , and you will be surprised how fast it goes . Wash your hands a lot and keep away from people with bugs , the nights will start drawing out soon , the daffs will be out and you will hopefully start to recover , there will always a niggle of worry , but treatment is good these days , there are lots of us on here to prove it . Have you got a good nurse you can talk through your worries with ?
Thank you. I have left a message for BCN. Havent spoken to her since diagnosis last month
xx
Hi
I finished EC x6 today the C is cyclophosamide. I start Herceptin in Jan
Believe me when I say it does get better you have already made a good start with manageable SE .
with the fear of the unknown and feeling like a ticking time bomb that's how I felt in first cycle . So I kept a diary of symptoms day 1 treatment day . You will see a pattern emerge then will be able to plan around it . Can get at least a week of good days prior to next cycle .
It helps to take away the fear . You know all of the SEs because they have to tell you . It doesn't mean you are going to get them all and certainly not all at once that's downright greedy !!
you will be surprised how it becomes easier as you go along
I know we all differ but hopefully your SE remain manageable and you can get control of the fear . Do remember if you feel rough and you get a SE it means chemo kicking cancers AR**
