Hi all,
my mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer in July. They said it was small lumps on both breasts. Mum opted for a double mastectomy. Results have come back in that they found more cancer in right breast than first thought and left side lymph nodes come back positive. We are really scared and not understanding what this means. Can anyone explain more? Mum had a bone scan and CT today so we have to wait 2 weeks for the results.
any advice on what to except and if this means mums cancer is not curable. She is only 59 x
Hi,
Firstly you have come to the right place but sorry you are here. The support on here is amazing. The hardest part is the waiting on results, once the results are through a plan will be put in place. There is so many treatments out there so try and remain positive. CT scans and bone scans are part of the procedure so the consultant can determine the right treatment for your mum. If you have any questions please ask and someone will respond.

Thank you so much for your reply.
I just want to know if it’s going to curable. What the chances it has spread to other places?
I know they are probably questions no one can answer right now. My sisters and I are driving ourselves crazy thinking the worst.
thanks again
Emma
Hi unfortunately I can not answer that. All factors such as size, location, age, health etc will be taken into account and a treatment plan will be arranged for your mum. Read my profile if it helps. I am now half way through chemo and mastectomy nxt year. Thinking positive helps. Waiting on results is the hardest part for all. You can rant or ask questions at any time on here.

Sorry you and your Mum find yourselves in this situation, but good you've found this page because people are very supportive.
There are so many factors to take into consideration to be able to give you an answer such as type of cancer, does it respond to hormones or Her + , history your mums health and of course waiting for the scan results.
What I can say is that I have cancer in my lymph node and (of course no guarantees) but the doctor says they are aiming for a curative result. I've started chemo and will have surgery and radiotherapy then hormone and protein blockers. So there is hope and I hope this is true for your mum.
Also what many people have pointed out is that a lot of the information online is 4/5 years old and new treatments are coming out since then.
Gentle hugs xxxx
