So i was told cancer is in my lymph nodes n that was it basically until a body scan is done... this Wednesday.... i asked for a copy of my report, it says lymph node 7.5mm.... no idea whether that meas lymph is that big or the cancer. Getting freaked now, no idea what to expect in the scan... then chemo and another op and possibly radiation.
As for my breast, i chose single mastectomy and was told that was the best decision i made, as there was a 2nd tumour.. 3.3cm, and the original was 2.5... clear margins.
Both cancers were different too. IDC and DCIS.
I am e+ p+ and HER2-
Any advice on what to expect on Weds and from chemo appreciated or what to do to lessen the nastiness.
The deposit in your sentinel node is 7.5mm, not the node. It's surprising that they missed a tumour measuring 3.3cm. Is it an actual tumour or DCIS? Great news about clear margins though:)))
Having all the staging scans can seem scary, especially when you initially are told that your nodes are clear and then they find something. That happened to me too (it happens about 20% of the time) and to be told nothing would happen until I had 2 CT scans and a full body nuclear bone scan was frankly terrifying!! It happened the first time I met my oncologist and remember having my first ever panic attack that day, a scary two weeks waiting for the results.... but it was all clear, as is normally the case but hard to believe at the time. I then had level three clearance which showed nothing in all the other nodes.
Take a look at the monthly chemo thread and the tips link at tree start of each month. Everyone reacts differently, and often we react differently to different cycles if the same chemo. The type of cancer ((ER+/-, HER2+/-, TN) decide what you ate given and how many cycles of each.
Good luck! Xxx
Deposit? The cancer? Ifso that is huge.i am e+ p+ and her2 - i will update the post
0.75cm isn't huge! Mine was 0.6cm and in no other nodes:)
I'm guessing then that your chemo will be 3 or 4 x EC or FEC, followed by either Paclitaxel or Docetaxel. It'll probably take about 5 months in total.
It's scary, but the chemo units are usually very friendly and relaxed places, and your meds can be quickly changed if you're feeling really unwell. Most of the time most people feel ok. It's usually a bit ropey for 1/3 weeks with EC.
Hi ya, you’ll be fine! I had 3 lymph nodes affected, all I know is one was over 5mm and 2 over 2mm but less than 5mm, They didn’t show up on ultrasound either, it was a bit of a shock I must admit!
i didn’t have any other scans at all, so cant help with that I’m afraid. just cracked on with the chemo and am now on radiotherapy to 3 areas as I didn’t have a lymph node clearance.
i had 3 x ec and 3 x docetaxel all on a 3 week cycle. I worked throughout part time and carried on pretty much as normal, in fact I probably “played out” more than usual! I did have some side effects but they were very manageable on the ec, the docetaxel was harder but if I can do it anyone can!
youll probably find the first one a bit of an anti climax, I know I did. It really wasn’t anything like I imagined. For the first one I’d take all the meds your given whether you need them or not and see how you go.
you can always ask any questions here anytime, there’ll always be someone to help xxx
7.5mm isn't that big really. My 1 out of 15 nodes that was positive was 10mm. After chemo. Still here - that was March 2017.
