New Notifications Widget

That link says I should have stopped getting email alerts - well, no. My inbox is filling up as I speak. With "liked" posts. *bangs head on wall*

Went to check my profile, and found that emails were still ticked. So the user reset referred to doesn't seem to have worked for me.

Besides, I don't necessarily log in everyday, so need to get emailed if tagged etc. But I would prefer the choice of what emails I get. Currently it's all or nothing. So miss a tag amongst all the likes. Kind of self defeating really.

I do recall last year that was a bugbear for most people. Emails are good, but emails for every like is ridiculous.

I saw this and simply clicked and its done nothing different. I don't get notifications anyway, probably just as well as I've been on the site fart too long!

I think the idea behind the new bell widget you then can turn emails off and just rely on the 'bell' widget unless of course you prefer both. I think those coloured live alert text boxes are distracting.

Have you had a look on your profile notifications to see if both are still selected ?

Have to agree it would be great to be able to turn 'like' emails off and I haven't fully got my head around the 'Bell' notifications I would have thought the number went down if once it as read but it appears it doesn't ?

Mine seems to sort of work now after the tech guys removed the 2150 number from my bell

The widget is not much use, as I need to log in to see it. So it's an inbox full of spam "likes" emails or nothing. That was the one thing there was consensus on, emails for likes were pointless and annoying. Proves no-one actually listens.

Don't know if it is do'able but I have emailed 'tech' to see if a 'likes' tick box can be added to turn the emails off off.... Don't hold your breath though :-/
