hi, mx 24 Oct and 3 lymph nodes removed. Crying in pain tonight. When will this end? Still got seroma and cording and can’t use arm too well. Can’t get it straight or above head. Back to physio thurs so should get a telling off I’m sure.
I am doing excersise but it hurts. I feel my wound is stuck to my chest and I can’t stretch.
Is this normal at 5 weeks?
Helllppp
lady_tinkerbell what pain meds are you on? It’s best to do the exercises half an hour after you take pain meds so you aren’t already in pain! Also doing stretches in the bath or shower can help ease the pain! If it’s cording you are trying to snap, massage the area firmly, yes it might be a bit uncomfortable BUT I promise you once the cording has snapped the stiffness went away immediately!
Try to keep using the arm as much as you can! The more you move it the better. These things take time, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Maybe try a heat pack on your arm to help relax your muscles!? Just a thought! It might help!
Right now it sounds like you need......
Keep going my Friend. You can do this! Xxxxx
I’m on morphine but trying to only take it when I’m desperate. Been having paracetamol as co codamol space me out.
Tonight I ended up in tears as in so much pain and am irritated by it.
I hate how I look and feel. Want to scream at everyone
Take regular pain meds lady_tinkerbell. They work better at pain control when they build up in your system, if you wait until you are desperate it’s too late. That’s when you end up unable to do the exercises properly because they hurt too much, then you tense up more! Give yourself a few days with REGULAR pain meds and see if that helps you to be able to relax, sleep and exercise! You don’t win any awards for braving the pain!! Xxx
As usual great commonsense and advice from Londonlass.
Painis not only painfully ( carnt think of a better word) but it is mood altering. It makes you feel miserable so staying on top of it isn't just good for the body, but also the mind. Mental well being is important too in recovery.
