Soft Bra

Hello ladies.  Ive been diagnosed this week - but feel very lucky as DCIS picked up by routine mammogram.  I'm having a lumpectomy in 10 days and then a 21 day Cours of radio.  Ive been told to buy a soft bra for after the surgery and radio.  Can any of you recommend one (if this is allowed!) I'm used to wearing underwired and have an F cup so concerned about support and comfort. Thanks

  • I’m a G cup.  I was back in underwired after surgery.  Main reason is I needed the support as my scar was on top of my breast so without support would be pulling down on it.  The wires were nowhere near my scar.   I had two M&S cotton lightly padded underwired which I wore day and night for a week then only day time.  I then wore a soft stretchy step into bra at night.

During radiotherapy I ditched underwired bras and bought two Debenhams mastectomy bras.  I didn’t have a mastectomy but they were the softest most gentle non wired bras in a G cup I could find.  I bought a size bigger than I normally wear to ensure no tightness in skin that would be irritated by radiotherapy.   As you too have large breasts you may suffer skin on skin burns underneath the breast.  I used E45 cream morning and night and then cold Aloe Vera gel from the fridge after radiotherapy and throughout day.  I only had skin breakdown under my breast.  I had some mediplex dressings from hospital but they didn’t agree with me so I put a sanitary towel underneath my boob to keep it dry .  Worked a treat.  I used my stretchy step into bras at night to keep ST in place.

  • Also fill in your profile as it enables others to see your history .
Lumpectomy will probably be day surgery .  I was home by 8pm despite not having surgery till 3pm.
