Feeling fed up after posting on here a while ago, after my drains leaking after mastectomy and stress that caused me all was going well, had expander expanded to full capacity and all was going well surgeon was happy, planned  date for next surgery was set 19th november to have expander replaced with permanent implant and mastectomy and immediate reconstruction on right side, then it went all tits up literally, got massive infection in left side, admitted to hospital for 8 days and iv  antibiotics  then home with more antibiotics but all for nothing 2 weeks later scheduled surgery date arrives and they end up removing expander cos infection was still present so didnt want to do planned mastectomy on right so I'm back to beginning again and feeling fed up

Sorry for long winded post but needed to rant, I know surgeon did the right thing but I'm disappointed with how things have gone so far, another month or so before expander gets put back in again i think then expand all over again, then planned surgery to both sides 2-3 months after that, omg will i ever get back to normality

Not in the same boat at all but just wanted to say so sorry your planned surgery has been put off. We get all psyched up and it is such a let down when things go awry. With the infection you won't be feeling on top form anyway. Knowing that the surgeon is doing everything in your best interests is great but when things like this happen it's difficult to take a deep breath and soldier on.

Sending a cyber hug and lots of healing thoughts.

Thanks wendy, yes I'll just breathe and try and take it on the chin and just accept I suppose but acceptance on this journey of ours is not always easy.

Hope your journey has been a good one

Hi, nobody a fraud on here, we just taking different routes to get through our treatment, I was supposed to have chemo followed by lumpectomy then radiotherapy but opted to have mastectomy and no radiotherapy instead, I felt it was the best decision for me, having other breast removed eventually too is my choice which ice had to fight for too but surgeon eventually agreed with my decision, and yes you nurses make terrible patients I imagine, i have friends who are nurses lol

    I'm breathing
