    Hi

Whoa! I had better slow down there is a Rabbit in the Headlights Rabbit

We do supply light bulb moments, but you have to breathe before you can see them Bulb

OK;  they way you are feeling is totally normal, everyone goes through this brain fart period. Normal service will be resumed when the dust settles honestly. Assume you were on your own when you got the news then :-/  ?

Did they actually give you a treatment plan or just throw suggestions at you and have another appointment arranged ?

I’ve Another Appointment For This Thursday, To Let Them Know My Decision , I Could Have Clips Put In The Left Breast, Then They Will Test Tissue, But They Could Still Advise a Mastectomy After Getting Clips In , I’m Leaning Towards The Double Mastectomy And Implants , Yes On My Own Im That Flipping Independent, Head All Over the Place Totally Lost Tbh Xx

    Hiya

Hopefully over the next couple of days you will have more replies from the lovely ladies here to think about, which will help guide you to  a decision.

They can put metal clips in if offering chemo first so they can find the affected area after the chemo has shrunk it right down and carry out a lumpectomy (wide local excision) instead of mastectomy. This way around I'm unsure about (nothing different there then)  As it looks like they are definitely going the surgery route first and wait on any removed tissue pathology results to see what they find. I'm assuming chemo hasn't been mentioned at all ? so hopefully you may dodge that bullet.

There a couple of ladies here who have had a double mastectomy and feel fine about that and are happy with the post surgery results.

If you are going the implant route there are several types to consider too. Dermal sling, expandable saline filled, silicone etc

    Hi

You mention 'clips in Lefty' - Have you any problems with 'Righty' or is that side risk reducing surgery should you go ahead with the double ?

    Hi

Macmillan has a booklet covering Risk Reducing Surgery - I'll place it below in case you haven't seen it or been given a copy. It does include some post surgery images though.

We have to go out now but hopefully you will get other helpful replies from those with some experience of this.

  • Hi Oscar 11

im sorry you’re having a crap time but this forum is the best.

My friend had similar issues and had clips which she found horrendous as a process but it’s all individual experience isn’t it.

I had a right side mastectomy 4 weeks ago. Prior to that I had biopsy which I found very painful but had 2 biopsy’s taken from 2 lumps so long procedure.

Then had to have it repeated as 1lump was inconsistent results. Tbh in hind side I should have just had mastectomy cos had to wait 2 more weeks and endure another biopsy and end result was mastectomy anyway. I wished I had had a double which would have been preventative for left side but I feel wired and lol sided and like a dog with 3 legs just not right. It’s personal preference but I’m just throwing my 2 peneth in. I think if I had gone for double it would Seam more normal. I am flat on one side and 36 f on other. Least if double mastectomy I could pad to what I want.

Anyway great big hugs and keep us posted. Hope my insight is helpful but remember it is personal Choi e. I couldn’t make my mind up about delaying or immediate reconstruction even up to the morning! There’s always doubts but do what you an deal with
