  • Hi

I have had four cycles of docetaxel/herceptin/perjeta (after two of EC), and in fact had my last chemo treatment today (but will continue with the antibodies herceptin and perjeta for 14 more cycles).  In all of the last three cycles, I have had a rash caused by the docetaxel, which my oncologist says is very common.  In my case the rash is on my face, and appears at around Day 6, continuing for a few days and then fading.  I talked about it with my chemo nurse today, and she said that the other place people often get the docetaxel rash is on the chest. The treatment suggested by my chemo unit for my particular rash is to moisturise with a cream containing urea (e.g. Udderly cream), which I am using each night and which certainly calms down the redness.  Creams such as Aveeno or E45 were also suggested by my unit as being effective for many people.  I am also applying a little witch hazel and tea tea cream to the rash in the mornings, which seems to keep the redness under control during the day.

As this is your first cycle and there might possibly be other reasons for the rash, it would be a good idea to check out your symptoms with your chemo team (I did this when my rash first appeared, just to be on the safe side).  It may be that there are other creams etc which are particularly suitable for a rash on the chest.  I hope that you will feel better very soon.  For me, the bone pain and aching only lasts a few days (when I am doing the filgrastim injections), so you will have hopefully find that it subsides soon.

  • Hi I have weekly Paclitaxel and I'm given the equivalent of about 3 Piriton through my PICC lIne which something for my stomach, steroids and an anti nausea drug as the Pititon dose makes me woozy. On day 2 of every cycle (this is day 2 of my fifth one) my face is red and blotchy, so I take a Piriton tablet and it gradually goes. Try taking an anti-histamine tablet and see if it clears up. BTW. Docetaxel and Paclitaxel are both Taxane drugs so work in similar ways:)
