hi lovelies
had my mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy on 24 th Oct
i am still in lots of pain. I’m still on morphine and co codamol and ibuprofen staggered. I’m struggling sleeping. No taste food wise and I’m shattered all the time.
My arm is sore tingling and feels enormous. My upper arm. I have my heart pillow but almost got no feeling in my arm and area where breast was.
My stomach is so swollen and bloated I look about 8 months pregnant. It is hard and uncomfortable.
I am constipated, not been since day of my op - 10 days ago!!!
can anyone tell me if any of this is normal.
Sorry you are struggling with the pain. My mastectomy was 9 October and I am still having discomfort it like pins and needle, burning and stabbing pain. I thought this is not getting any better but I have noticed this weekend the discomfort is slowly getting a bit better. You will get there and feel better soon we need to give our body chance to heal.
I was constipated after my first surgery, the pain killers will make you constipated
I hope you start to feel better soon xx
You need help with the constipation as soon as possible! Phone the doctor because you can get further problems if it isn't sorted out. The morphine gives you constipation so the sooner you get off the harder drugs the better. The pain for my mastectomy and lymph node clearance was quite bad for ages but I was only on ibuprofen and paracetamol so yours sounds a lot worse. It does get better but it sounds like you need advice from doc/ nurses asap. Phone in the morning first thing. Good luck. It sounds really awful. Xxxxxx
Hi, I experienced constipation during my first EC, and although I was precribed a soluble laxative, the best thing I have found to work is to eat a handful of dried prunes every day. I am doing this everyday, and certainly avoided constipation during my second round.
Take care x
