I don't usually buy a paper, but got a Scotsman today and was enjoying the read to find an article on P13 about the Scottish Medical Consortium deciding yesterday 'NOT to approve Perjeta to treat patients with primary breast cancer at high risk of the disease returning'. Apparently the drug had been already approved in Scotland last year.
I am totally speechless at why where someone lives should have a bearing on treatment that may prolong life..not just mine , but a mum who could be half my age or someone who is the sole provider in a home? The examples are endless...
While I still have a fight in me I will begin to lobby all the local msp's and the westminster ones to try and find out why??
I can only imagine this will be down to cost which is disgusting and asks so many other questions as to why drug companies are making these and then other powers control their use.
I thought I was just getting my head round all my problems and this has knocked me sideways AGAIN!!
