Hi - I was diagnosed with stage 1 hormone receptive bc back in 2017 (2nd primary cancer nhlfl diagnosed 2015) which was successfully treated with surgery and rt. initially prescribed tamoxifen post treatment but had to stop treatment due to side effects.  I have had a dreadful time with the menopause and am currently on gabapentin (hot flushes) and have just been prescribed Senshio - just wondered if anyone had any experience of this medication?

  • Hi Scared66 welcome to the forum.

Can I ask who it is that has prescribed the Senshio for you. The main reason for asking is I wondered if you had been seen by the breast team before this was prescribed?

The other thing that you could do is to post your question in The Ask a Nurse section of the site as they may be able to give you more information about this medication.

Sorry not to have been of more help but I havent heard of this medication before, hence my kind of vague reply.

  • Hi ,  I can't help answer about the medication prescribed.  I will give you a few things to consider and maybe contact your BC nurse to get the answers.

You say you stopped Tamoxifen due to side effects..... did they offer to prescribe you a different type drug to reduce oestrogen from within your body? Most ladies post menopausal are prescribed letrozole and I can't think of the other name it is an 'aromatase inhibitor' - this medication works on removing or altering how your body reacts to oestrogen ..... as most BC feed on the oestrogen, so we are given this type of medication to reduce for want of a better words .... BC food supply.

The medication you are taking about 'senshio' I think it seems to be prescribed to 'help with comfort' in your 'lady garden'. I could be totally wrong, its just me thoughts.

Don't quote me on this, this is just me thoughts from what you have said.

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x
