Hello lovely people, and Welcome to the September Chemotherapy Chat! I cant believe its September already!

This thread is for all of you soldiers, going through chemotherapy to take a look at, ask questions, answer questions and be there for one another in a way only you guys know how.

If you want to find this post quickly, you can hit the 'Save In My Favourites' button.

For all of those of you going through chemotherapy, you are superstars. You are amazing, and you are fighting each and every day, you are my heroes. If you need any extra tips, our Chemo Tips Page is something you may find very helpful, and something that you may find you would like to share with others who are also going through chemo. One top tip, ask about parking at the hospital you are being treated at; for some Cancer patients parking is either free or discounted (big discount!) So it's worth asking about.

To get a sense of how the thread works, here is a link to the August chat which will be being locked from replies soon, but have a read anyway if you'd like to.

Remember, you're never alone, you have us! And, just try to focus on what your chemotherapy is doing. Its hopefully kicking your cancers butt.

I hope you are coping with me doing these! And I hope all of you are doing as well as you can do while going through this tough part of your journies.

Happy September Everyone,

Lots of love, hugs, light and healing to each and every one of you.

Thanks Margaret, that's really useful. A bag is a good idea to keep everything in one place too. I'll have a look at that thread. Pleased you're having minimal se.

    Hi Jojodot,

Thanks for the advice and reassurance. That's definitely what I've been looking for since being given a date to start chemo yesterday. Having waited through tests and 2 surgeries I just want to get it started now. Felt a bit in limbo waiting for surgery to heal. It's healing well though. My surgeon is superb. She's a real gem. I'm going for a look around the ward on Monday so think I'll feel better when I've seen it. Pleased you're doing so well.

this forum is so helpful for me both physically and mentally with all of the help and advice, what a great group all supporting each other. I know it helps me through the gloomier times.

Feeling good this week - just in time for my next EC on Thursday lol! Keep fighting, we will win xxxxx

  • Hello Feemcg

Was hoping you were a lot better now you were on the pax treatment. You are getting through the treatment though - the end of it it is in sight.

Thanks for recommending Carbomer eye gel.

A visit from your daughter and granddaughter would do you the world of good even though it was sad when they left. Just think in a few months it will all be better. And you can go down and visit like before. Early days in babies are so precious. We have a grandchild due in November and they live far away down in Suffolk. I am just hoping I will see her/him in the early days. I will be heartbroken if I can’t. Face time will have to suffice. And it is too long a journey for them to come here with a newborn and a two year old. Special bonding baby times will come for us both. My youngest granddaughter has just turned 6 months and she is a delight - sitting up now and taking an interest in everything. We see a lot of her as they stay close.

    Take care,

    Jojodot X

  • Hi Londonmumof2,

Been thinking of you today and hope you are ok.

Such an exciting time for your daughter and feeling like you do , even harder to let her go.

Just think of all the fun times she will have !

    Hang on in there.

Londonmumof2 I totally missed your post on page 3 about your daughter moving up today...I had friends out in St. A. today and I so wanted to be with them.....hence the pity post earlier....I Iike the buzz when the town's busy. I'm sorry you're still feeling rubbish and although I'm having side effects with the Pax its def better than with the FEC plus my anxiety is improving slowly ( probably just jinxed it!)

Weird hair update...my hair is growing again on my head, it has never stopped growing on my legs or changed on my hairy arms,...and I haven't shaved it for ages either, I'm losing eyelashes and brows daily but had to pluck a few top lip hairs...makes no sense at all!

I too am booked on to a look good feel better session Oct or Nov (top tip for those out there book on as soon as you can as spaces quickly go) which I am sure will be a hoot and have taken the opportunity to spend a small fortune on new make up (that I probably won't use but generally don't let that stop me, my little way of helping the economy).

I have invested in some fake lashes, C-lash (by eyelure), as wasn't 100% convinced by the reviews re the magnetic contraptions, luckily as still have lashes so have not actually used yet but have high hopes!

Took the opportunity pre chemo to try out some normal false eyelashes and think I could cut it quite convincingly as a drag queen (all be it one with eyelashes half on and half off).

Good luck with your first review.

  • Hi All
Good to see that everyone is remaining upbeat and generally with no really "bad" side effects (fingers crossed).

So far my main niggle has been the new big C...constipation, think we're over it now, oh and a HUGE outbreak of quality zits like never seen before.
Following advice am working 50%, glad I can be (and also that I am feeling) productive.

Funny thing happened yesterday re the latest of the mini plagues that pharaoh chemo keeps bringing... thought I'd try out 111 (just for a change, important to know that I am getting use of of all my national insurance) as had some discomfort "down below". After 3 calls, ultimately to a doctor, they tried convincing me I had genital herpes...nice!
Luckily a lovely (if not somewhat bewildered by the turn of events) doctor let me know that I did not need to be frog-marched to the nearest STI clinic (as a clinician on 111 had tried to do) but that it was merely an infection, thrush or something similar...phew!
Not sure how the conversation with partner of 16 years re where genital herpes had come from would go...

    Good weekend all

  • Afternoon lovely people,

Good to hear everyone seems to be coping pretty well so far for September. I'm gearing up for 2nd EC on Friday, been feeling pretty normal last few days so hopefully my body is ready to 'go again' I haven't had a bad 2 weeks to be honest - couple of queasy days and an irritable cough, so can't complain too much.

A few stray hairs have started to depart over the last few days, my hair is short & fine anyway but it is bothering me a bit more than I thought it would. Oh well, have booked wig appointment for Tuesday and hoping to get some nice scarves too in case I don't want to wear the wig all the time.

Busy this week with appointments.....oncologist Tuesday, PICC line in on Thursday, EC on Friday. Good job I have a note to be off work, I don't think I have time to go in anyway!!

    Will check back next week

    xx
