Hello lovely people, and Welcome to the September Chemotherapy Chat! I cant believe its September already!

This thread is for all of you soldiers, going through chemotherapy to take a look at, ask questions, answer questions and be there for one another in a way only you guys know how.

If you want to find this post quickly, you can hit the 'Save In My Favourites' button.

For all of those of you going through chemotherapy, you are superstars. You are amazing, and you are fighting each and every day, you are my heroes. If you need any extra tips, our Chemo Tips Page is something you may find very helpful, and something that you may find you would like to share with others who are also going through chemo. One top tip, ask about parking at the hospital you are being treated at; for some Cancer patients parking is either free or discounted (big discount!) So it's worth asking about.

To get a sense of how the thread works, here is a link to the August chat which will be being locked from replies soon, but have a read anyway if you'd like to.

Remember, you're never alone, you have us! And, just try to focus on what your chemotherapy is doing. Its hopefully kicking your cancers butt.

I hope you are coping with me doing these! And I hope all of you are doing as well as you can do while going through this tough part of your journies.

Happy September Everyone,

Lots of love, hugs, light and healing to each and every one of you.

    I'm in, as usual!

Now on cycle 17 of Eribulin, and long may it continue!!!

  • And me! :)

Day 14 of third cycle of FEC. Docetaxel next with Trastuzumab and Pertuzumab.

Have to say hadn't been as bad as I imagined so far. Yes I've had a few SE's but they're not constant for the whole cycle. Usually have two 'good weeks' before next one, although I'm fearing this maybe different with the Docetaxel! Not long now before I find out.

Good luck to all those joining this month, please ask away with any questions, the ladies on here are fab and have kept me well informed, making coping with this that little bit easier.

To all those still around from previous months thank you and I hope you're all doing well x

  • Hi to all the gang from the August starters thread (and to everyone new),

Good luck to everyone as we start this new month of our chemotherapy.  I am on Day 5 after my second EC, and am due to move on to a new regime (Herceptin/Perjeta/Docetaxel) next time for my last four treatments.  After that I will have surgery in December, followed by Herceptin injections for a year.  So far I have not had too many side effects from the second EC - I was a bit queasy for the first two days, but this is now subsiding.

I hope that everyone has a good day, and will pop back into the thread later to see how we are all doing!

    I’m in!

Day 12 of 2nd FEC. Side effects ain’t been too bad this time compared to throat infection after first cycle!

Arm not great that had chemo thru, very red, sore n swollen n difficult to move unless use other hand to move it at times! Had same reaction in other arm so looks like I’ll be going down the route of a line being put in for next cycle possibly!

See consultant on 9th then treatment on 11th all being well....

Had to go to cancer unit on Wednesday as grandson (who’s only 3) has developed chicken pox so I’m sat for 5hrs in a side room waiting for blood results to find out if I’ve caught it! Got the all clear n went home! So now I see grandson via FaceTime with my daughter or from a distance.... missing my nana cuddles that he gives me xx but not taking risk of catching anything!

Hope everyone has a good month with their treatment n we don’t get too many bad days this month xx

    Sall xx

September already!....bloods tomorrrow for (hopefully) 2nd of 9 weekly Pax on Tuesday...not been too bad, wobbly legs, slight nausea....and sore back today....I'm assuming I just slept funny! Managed a meal out with my cousin on Wednesday and quick trip to Aldi.....exhausted by the time I got home, and a lovely run to Elie and Anstruther last night and scampi supper (not me driving but I'm going to try to drive today)

    Best wishes September group x

  • Hi all
Had my first round of EC and seems like many of you have been through similar.
No huge problems up to now, day 3 post 1st EC, constipation + gut ache the worst but manageable (and hope/think there's soon to be movement...!).
Sleep not brill either (steroids I suspect), anti sickness pills seem to be doing their job.

For those who didn't have "bad" side effects (I'm determined I'll be in that group) please can I ask how your the timing of your tiredness/mild side effects were? i.e. Is it worst days 5-10 post last chemo cycle?
I ask as I am keen not to let my brain go to (any more) mush and want to work part-time (office job, work being vvv flexible and can work from home) and given feeling not too bad so far am trying to plan to work 50% of the time (maybe more depending how I get on) but not sure when I should be doing this?
And I do appreciate everyone is different, just trying to get an idea of what the future may hold.

Hope that makes some semblance of sense.

    Thanks
    Sam

  • Hello Sam,

As your work is flexible.....could you just go when you are ready?

I'm not sure if you can predict exactly which days you will feel fine each month due to the variability.  I don't think I had two cycles the same............

On the constipation question.......I did find it was a problem so from cycle 3 I took some laxatives on the day before I went for my chemo so I started off fairly empty. I still got constipated but it was much more manageable and without pain I just regularly took a mild laxative about every 3 days.

Hope all goes well for you during the next month.

    Love Karen
